Hello guys,
I have an issue in Multicharts regarding applying multiple signals to one chart; maybe you have some advice for me: I am still struggling to understand the logic behind applying multiple signals to one chart. MC combines multiple signals applied to one chart to ONE signal as I was told.
See the pic above: I am using a trend strategy including MA’s, RSI (optional), ADX (optional) and a SL/TP strategy linking to ATR. To adapt to different market conditions, I applied 12 signals to one chart with different parameters. The MA’s for example reach from 2-21 (circled), for some RSI and/or ADX restrictions are applied (for example do not trade in overbought/oversold conditions; only when trend is existing). As said before, I could also open 12 charts and apply one signal to each only, which is probably the easiest way.
BUT: From a trade series and money management perspective it does make sense to apply all signals to just one chart. Because lets make the following assumptions. All 12 signals make 10 trades each over the period with a profitability of 90%, so there is one loss trade. Overall 110 winners to 10 loosers sounds promising. But what if the loosing trade for all 12 happens at around the same time. So you have 12 loosers in a row. My assumption is you can avoid it by applying all 12 to one chart (at least it becomes more obvious that the loosing trades all happen around the same time).
So my questions are:
-What coding is necessary to link all signals and to make them work independently (still all applied to one chart)
-Which parameters do I have to look at, to make sure the signals do not cancel/ cross each other. Shall the SL/TP for all signals be the same? My assumption is if 11 singals have more or less the same TP/SL parameters, with one signal having much smaller TP/SL parameters: Whenever this last signal happens when other signal would open a trade as well, TP/SL will minimized to adapt to the conditions of the one signal with minimized TP/SL.
Hopefully you have some advice for me.
Best regards
Jonas
