IMO, the lack of interest is only due to 1. still in beta status and 2. not enough converted indicators yet. A lot of us use our own and will have the original coders swap it over to 8. Most coders are just simply waiting for the final version until spending time converting in case some code breaking changes happen between beta and final version. Also, I have a couple of vendor addons and will have to wait for them to update before I even consider moving to 8. Please keep posting updated versions of what ever interests you. I'm sure others will follow.
Also, if you need help on the NinjaTrader support forum for votes on what needs to be changed to make it better, please let me know! I will add my vote to your requests on the forum. Thanks for all you do!

I agree with this post I have been using NT8 since B3, in general I like it but a few things are really disappointing to me.
I feel the interface in general wastes a lot of screen space for the sake of appearance (or some unknown reason)
One example is the interface to enter and manage text entry on a chart, it wastes a hug amount of space, this interface in NT7 is much more usable in real life in my opinion.
There have been many posts about features that were in NT7 that have been left out of NT8. Things that make you think that whoever designed the interface and feature set was not in touch with what a lot of us have come to like and depend on in NT7.
I believe they said they will spend time updating the interface once the platform is stable but meanwhile it makes me reticent to switch which is shame because in general the new platform is much improved.
Also I too am limited in how much I can test and use it given that I use third party indicators in my trading
I've been using it since B5, and use it now for all my monitoring - it didn't take long to get basic versions of my indicators set up, though I'd definitely like to see fuller versions available.
I'd also like to figure out how to make the tick-replay more efficient. e.g. using volume profiles on multiple charts.
I wouldn't rely on it for live trading yet, however.
I agree re the interface, though in general I think it's much improved. There's a great benefit to having a real designer do the design (vs NT7), but in this case it would have been good to have a little more over-riding from actual traders.
I used software to convert my indicator. I don't study programming in C so when you say 'Inline calls to external classes. "Worst practices" coding.' I have no clue. Could you provide a snip of before (bad) and after (good) coding, thanks.

I started to do some first tests, downloaded the most recent BETA version of NT8 and
I encountered, what seems to be a little issue, when using IQfeed (v5.1.3.1) and NT 8 (v8.0.0.7).
When you configure NT8 with an IQfeed connection it seems sometimes difficult/nearly impossible to bring
the connection up. This situation happens both in auto connect at startup as manual connect through the
menu.
There is absolutely no issue with the password, retrying a few times without any change sometimes works.
you can also clearly see the IQ client logging on, getting all permissions before the NT8 will fire an error for the
connection.
The logic to bring the connection up just seems very buggy/unstable.
What always works :
- Configure NT in auto connect or manually connecting to IQfeed, when the IQ client is already running
because of an other application that was started before.
What does not work :
- Configure a connection in NT8 and start it manually or automatically as the first client using the IQfeed.
For clarity i don't have a very slow internet connection, i think 98% of the users are on a slower connection.
The behavior is true for both the 32 bit and the 64 bit version.
I have the impression (need to do more testing), that when i leave a chart open, and the PC screen goes black (the pc is not sleeping or hibernating) that the charts stops updating and stays there. I have the NT7 running next to it and this does not do this, even if the screen goes black the charts continues to update (or more precisely, when i move the mouse, the screen comes, the NT7 is up to date, the NT8 not).
Fiddling with the chart, like the arrow in the bottom, makes it all of a sudden paint the update, so i have a feeling it's something with the paint update event..
will do more testing
if anyone could do a similar test or simply can confirm this ?
