Continuing in the tradition of encouraging journals on FIO, I am announcing a new Journal contest for September 2016.
The rules are extremely simple:
a) The contest begins September 1 and ends September 30. All decisions made by futures.io are final.
b) This thread that you are reading right now will act as the repository for all journals that are entered into the contest.
c) Your journal must be "powered by" NinjaTrader to be eligible to win. This means you must post charts/screenshots of your NinjaTrader platform in your journal on a regular basis.
d) The author of a journal can enter his/her futures.io journal into the contest by posting a link to his/her journal in this thread. Only the author of the journal can do this. Please post the link to the journal ONE TIME, AND ONE TIME ONLY in this thread.
e) Members of futures.io will cast their votes for the best journals by using the "Thanks" button on the post that the journal author has made in this very thread. This is why it is very important the author of the journal make only one post, because only one post will be used to count the total number of "Thanks Received" in this thread, and that is how the winners will be decided. Members can vote for as many separate journals as they want by following the same procedure.
f) There will be three prizes awarded, based on the highest number of "Thanks Received" per the above. The (3) prizes are: (1st place) Lifetime license to NinjaTrader ($999 value), (2nd place) 1-year annual license ($600 value), (3rd place) 1-year annual license ($600 value).
My goal with these contests is to encourage the journaling process, as I firmly believe the more you participate in the journal process, the better trader you will become.
If anyone has any questions, please let me know. This thread will remain closed to posts until September 1st (contest start date).
So I've been on the fence about starting a journal on FIO for the last couple of months. Mainly due to the fact that I am not a disciplined trader yet, and some days my performance embarrasses me.
Honestly, the NinjaTrader contest was the push I …
I started my journal a couple of days ago and it was honestly one of the best decisions I have made in my short trading career.
The biggest benefit I’ve gotten from it so far, is understanding that my biggest pitfall is in regards to psychology. With help from starting a journal here, I’ve started to make shifts from focusing on my trading execution and starting to prioritize what goes on in my head.
If you are having issues with trading psychology, I recommend you check my journal out as I will be focusing on this heavily!!!
Here’s some of what you can expect from my journal
Intraday
Psychology goals for the day
Trading plan and expectations
Snapshots of some of my entry / exit points along with a brief description
End of day
Summary of the day
Psychology goal summary of the day
3 things I did well
3 things I could’ve done better
End of week
Summary of the week
Psychology highlights and pitfalls I need to work on
I must confess that Mr. SoftSoap really created standards for me of how to make journalling and posts! So hope he will forgive me that I took some of his structure as example and wrote my introduction note according his highly professional example!

As I prepare to embark with you on this journey, let me share the dream before the draft. My trials may reflect your own, and I write so that you can share in the rewards of my labor. I am no longer a beginner, yet I begin again and again.
I struggled to make it in trading. I came with the wrong thought: I can do whatever I want now. I had to pay for that thought. Trading remained difficult, but it was such an immersive activity which generated a state of deep concentration that has brought so much real freedom. Silent moments of truth are the ultimate treasures - states of flow, experiences of The Zone.
Real Life intervenes. Marriage. First child. Second child. Career. But I persisted with trading. I sat down at my desk early each morning and faced the realities of trading head on.
What caused the real breakthrough, what changed me, however was not the holy grail of a method but this: trading all the time. Don't let anybody tell you that you can't do it.
Create your own method. Make up something that will work for you! Keep breaking traditions, I beg you.
As I prepare to embark with you on this journey, let me share the dream before the draft. My trials may reflect your own, and I write so that you can share in the rewards of my labor. I am no longer a beginner, yet I begin again and again.
I invite you to follow my journey as I am just now leaving the starting block. I see trading as a marathon and not a sprint. As a result, I am determined to strive and endure all the way to the end.
Here is my link so you can participate in the race with me:
Hello to all and thank you for stopping by to check out my journal. I feel I need to let you know a little
about myself. I am 21 years old, married to a beautiful wife, work as an associate at an adult day care
program for special needs adults and I …
I started my journal a couple of days ago. Trading is quite a passion for me and it took me 20 years to take the bull by the horns and start trading for myself. If I think back on it now though, it is probably the way it should have been as I think there were some very important lessons in life that I had to learn before trading would bring me the joy and happiness it currently does.
I would love to have you all along for the adventure and would really appreciate any input into my journey. As I said in my first journal post, my hope is that this journal adds just as must value to you the reader as it does to me.
This is the start of my trading journal on my road to trading consitency. I have been reading other journals since I joined futures.io and have learned so much from them that I firmly believe that journaling is a vital part of becoming a better …
