Hi all

I've been getting familiar with IB TWS, I've been playing around with the charts for various time indicators, like producing bars on 1min, 5 min intervals but can't find how to produce a chart on a volume basis (tick charts).

For example to be able to plot a bar only after x number of trades, many other platforms have this, is it possible in TWS?

If so can someone tell me the settings please.

many thanks

So I have contacted IB and they have advised that they do not currently have a volume basis for representing bars (aka tick charts). New features can be voted on, can members click on the below link and vote for this feature.

To me it is absolutely essential to have both a time and volume basis for the bars in a chart, particularly for intra day trading.

cheers

Perhaps more knowledgeable members can correct me, but I think that the volume charts you are referring to are Volume at Price (VAP) profile charts, and these ARE supported by IB charts. Their streaming TICK charts leave a lot to be desired, apparently.
