Downloaded a couple of zip file indicators but when trying to import into NT I get a error saying unhandled exception, could not find part of path. Tried a few other indicators with same message and then it closes out NT. What causes this. Thanks
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I don't know if this is or isn't your issue, but one common issue I'm seeing with some of my users is that NT user profile ends up on OneDrive on Windows 11. I believe the error you're getting is similar or the same as the one that happens with OneDrive. So it might be worth checking this.
If NT is using the Documents folder on OneDrive, this could cause many issues. Either remove OneDrive or find a way to point NT user profile to your local drive C:\users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents.
If this isn't your issue, then maybe you can look in your logs and traces and look for some clues there. Might be better to work directly with NT platform support.
The "could not find part of path" error during NinjaTrader imports typically indicates filesystem permission issues or path redirection conflicts. Your indicators are likely trying to write to protected or non-existent directories.
Primary diagnostics:
Check if your Documents folder redirects to OneDrive - this causes 90% of import failures. Navigate to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\ and verify it's on your local C: drive, not cloud storage.
Resolution steps:
1. Run NinjaTrader as Administrator
2. Disable OneDrive folder backup for Documents
3. Manually extract the zip to Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom\Indicators
4. Clear NinjaTrader cache: Tools → Options → General → Reset Cache
If the crash persists, check the trace file at Documents\NinjaTrader 8\trace\ for specific path references. Are these third-party indicators or official NinjaTrader packages?
