Essential news for futures traders tracking institutional positioning.

The CFTC has resumed publishing Commitments of Traders (COT) reports after a 43-day interruption caused by the government shutdown from October 1 through November 12.

Key Facts:
  • Reports interrupted Oct 1 - Nov 12 due to government shutdown
  • First catch-up publication was Nov 19
  • Reports being published in chronological order
  • Normal schedule resumes January 23, 2026

What This Means for Traders:
COT data is critical infrastructure for understanding institutional positioning. If you use COT reports in your analysis, be aware that current reports will lag real-time market conditions until mid-January 2026.

Bookmark the revised schedule and factor in the data delay when interpreting institutional flows.
