eToro just reported its first full year of financial results as a publicly traded company, and the numbers tell an interesting story about the state of retail trading.

The headline numbers:
  • Full-year 2025 revenue (Net Contribution): $868 million, up 10% YoY from $788M in 2024
  • Q4 2025 revenue: $227 million, up 6% from Q3
  • Full-year net profit: $216 million, up 12% YoY
  • Q4 net profit: $69 million -- a quarterly record
  • Assets Under Administration: $18.5 billion, up 11% YoY
  • Funded accounts: 3.81 million, up 9% YoY
  • January 2026 trading volume: 74 million trades, up 55% year-over-year

The company IPO'd on NASDAQ in May 2025 at $52 per share. Despite posting record results across the board, ETOR shares are trading around $27-30 -- roughly half the IPO price. CEO Yoni Assia talked about building a "global financial super-app" with AI-powered tools, an upcoming eToro App Store, and 24/7 trading access for popular assets.

They also announced an additional $100 million share buyback program, bringing total authorized repurchases higher.

Why futures traders should care:

eToro is primarily a stocks and crypto platform, not a futures broker. But their results are a useful barometer for the broader retail trading ecosystem. Here's what stands out:
  1. Retail participation is expanding. January trades jumped 55% YoY to 74 million. That's a LOT of retail volume flowing into markets. More retail participation generally means more volume and tighter spreads across all instrument classes.
  2. The AI tools race is accelerating. eToro is building an "App Store" for trading strategies and AI-powered tools. This is the direction the entire industry is heading -- NinjaTrader, TradeStation, and Interactive Brokers are all investing heavily in similar capabilities.
  3. The IPO price gap is a reality check. Record revenue, record profit, and the stock is still 45% below its IPO price. This tells you something about where market expectations are for fintech valuations right now. For anyone thinking about investing in trading platform companies, the multiple compression in this space has been brutal.
  4. Commodities trading spiked. eToro's CFO specifically highlighted a "spike in commodities trading" driving January performance. That aligns with what we're seeing in gold near $5,000 and crude volatility -- retail is paying attention to commodities markets.

The bigger picture: when retail platforms post record results and 55% volume growth, that's a healthy signal for the entire trading ecosystem. The pie is getting bigger.
