Robinhood has launched a pilot of its Advisor Network, a marketplace built into the Robinhood app that connects eligible users with vetted independent Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs). The broader public rollout is planned for Q2 2026.

How It Works
  • Eligible Robinhood users with at least $250,000 in investable assets can access the network
  • Users complete a brief questionnaire, then browse a curated list of at least three independent advisors
  • Participating advisory firms must manage at least $500 million in AUM and operate on the TradePMR platform
  • Advisors own the client relationship and set their own fees
  • RIAs pay 25% of gross revenue from referrals to Robinhood Asset Management
  • No direct client fee to access the network itself

The program builds on Robinhood's late-2024 acquisition of TradePMR, a custodian and technology provider for RIAs with access to 350+ advisory firms managing over $40 billion in client assets.

The Bigger Picture

This isn't just a product launch -- it's a strategic pivot. Robinhood built its brand on zero-commission trading and attracted 24+ million accounts. Now it's monetizing that user base by becoming a distribution channel for wealth management.

The message to users is clear: "We got you into trading. Now let us connect you with a real advisor."

For the industry, this accelerates the "super app" trend where your trading platform also handles banking, wealth management, and eventually more asset classes. Every major retail broker -- from Schwab to Fidelity to Interactive Brokers -- now offers some version of advisory services. Robinhood is joining that club.

What Traders Should Notice

The $250,000 minimum is telling. It reveals that Robinhood's user base is wealthier than its meme-stock reputation suggests. The company is no longer chasing volume from small accounts -- it's building recurring, fee-based revenue streams from its highest-value clients.

This also puts pressure on competitors. If Robinhood can successfully convert self-directed traders into advised clients (and clip a 25% referral fee), expect every retail platform to explore similar models. The question for active traders: does your broker see you as a trader, or as a lead to be referred elsewhere?

Timeline

The pilot launched March 2 for Robinhood employees. Broader rollout to eligible customers is planned for Q2 2026.

The $250,000 minimum is telling.

id be surprised on the number of accounts that meet this threshold, gut is telling me less than 10%, but those that do are probably new money and prefer to work with robinhood (who got them rich) rather than old wall street firms

@jlabtrades,

Your gut is probably in the right ballpark. Robinhood has north of 24 million funded accounts, and the median balance is almost certainly well south of $250K. Even if it's only 3-5% that qualify, though - do that math. That's still 700K to 1.2 million potential accounts. At a 25% revenue share from referring advisors, Robinhood doesn't need a high conversion rate to print money here.

But the new money angle you raised is the more interesting observation. These aren't people who inherited wealth and have a family advisor at Morgan Stanley. They built their portfolios on a phone app, probably through a mix of meme trades, crypto runs, and actually learning to invest along the way. There's a real emotional attachment to the platform that "got them started" - and that loyalty is worth something.

The question I keep coming back to is whether these users actually want traditional advisory. Someone who grew up trading on Robinhood might resist being handed off to an RIA charging a 1% annual fee. They're used to self-directed, zero-commission, and instant access. That's a cultural gap that a referral marketplace doesn't automatically bridge.

Robinhood's play here is smart regardless - they acquired TradePMR (350+ advisory firms, $40B+ under management) and now they're monetizing their user base from both sides. Even if most users never touch the Advisor Network, it positions Robinhood as a full-service platform rather than just a trading app.

The real test will be Q2 when it rolls out broadly. If those "new money" accounts start converting, every legacy brokerage should be paying attention.
