In SC I'd like to do the following :
Select a portion a chart and add a Study to that portion only. e.g. select the period from 9.00 to 9.45 on a 5 min chart and add a study to that area only. Is this possible in any way ? I guess the alternative is to quickly open another chart showing only that period and add a study there. But it takes me several seconds to this, changing the Chart Settings, and it's something I do a lot during the day, so if anyone knows a better way...........?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Making an Alert Condition Formula Function During Certain Times: In this example the alert will only function between 5:30 and 22:20. =AND((Your alert Condition Formula),BARTIME >= ((05*60+30)/(24*60)), BARTIME <= ((22*60+20)/(24*60)))
You could also do something like the following (ex. MACD and RSI)
This is a Study/Price Overlay from a 2 different charts using different time settings. The only problem is you need to give the studies enough time to calculate prior to needing the info they provide.
Thanks @pludloe, I'll look at what you suggest.
Ideally, what I have in mind is something like the Draw Volume Profile Tool that's available in Package 5 (I use Package 3).
It allows a very quick selection of a series of bars and draws the study for those bars only.It would be cool to do this with any study, not just Vol Profile. Anyway I'll keep looking into this......
@pludloe. yes that is what I currently do : I have a separate chart open which has the study I want running, then when I see an area of interest on my main chart, I open the second one and change the Start time and End time in Chart Settings, so that it only shows the period I'm interested in. This works, but it's just awkward. The way the Draw Volume Profile Tool works is so much better : Simply draw a box around the area of interest, and apply the study within the box only. If you don't have Package 5, here's an example of it :
I'm not a coder, but I'm guessing that Sierra contains the possibility to do this with any study, not just Vol.Profile.
