Hi All. Very new here, in fact this is my first post, and I have a question hopefully someone will be able to help with.

I have been using TradingView to BackTest Strategies etc.

While doing this I have been placing trades using Paper Trading which is going ok.

My question is, once I have a position open in say GBPUSD chart, and I can see it progressing/moving and I want to open 2nd position on the same chart and time frame how would I do this ?

I have tried a few times but every time I pass a attempt to place "A New Order" it just cancels the original one.

Is it possible to have 2 Positions open on the same chart simultaneously in TradingView

P.S I only have a basic account i.e Free! at present, if that makes a difference.

Many Thanks
Richard

Hello Fellow Traders! New to the forum. As a first post I’d like to thank Big Mike for letting me be a part of this community.

I’m a scrum master in the IT industry. I used to be a developer in a previous lifetime but I have not written code for decades now. A little over 3 years ago I got bit by the trading bug. I think, like most engineers, it was the allure of solving something difficult to solve, that attracted me to trading. The more the market whupped my butt the more determined I became to crack it. What I did not anticipate when I began this journey is that trading would also provide me with a different way to view things and allow me to know myself better through introspection.

My initial research indicated that, as a new trader, I was very likely to blow at least one account in my quest for profitability. I kept hearing people stress the importance of risk management. Given that, I looked for markets that would allow me to manage my risk with fine grain control. I landed on spot FX since it allows me to open an account with a small amount of funds, it lets me take long and short entries and it has ample liquidity. I lost 2/3 of my account while learning but amazingly I managed not to blow it entirely. I’ve been trading spot FX for 3+ years.

Having settled down into a profitable cadence I’m looking to develop an EA based on my strategy so that I can accelerate my account growth while I continue working at my job. I use Multicharts running on Parallels on a Mac, therefore my EA will be built using EasyLanguage (PowerLanguage). I came across futures.io while searching for learning resources for EasyLanguage. Hoping to bug some knowledgeable members here for help with EasyLanguage, as well as to contributing whatever I can to this forum.

Thank you for reading and I’ll see you all in the forums.

Cheers,
Midline

Welcome Midline! I develop strategies for TradeStation (EasyLanguage), mostly in futures, but with a couple of equity systems in development and testing. If you are serious about automated system development, I highly recommend checking out the writings of Kevin Davey (@kevinkdog), starting with Building Winning Algorithmic Trading Systems. He is an occasional contributor. here and a genuinely honest guy. The code examples he gives in his books are available in EasyLanguage, which should be easy for you (no pun intended) to get up and running in PowerLanguage.

There are plenty of helpful and supportive people here and the vendors who frequent FIO are kept on a tight leash by Big Mike and the mods.
