Using NT8.
I am a little turned off by FX at the moment....lol. I had $80k+ in my FX acct and that was fine. Then I moved funds around and left ~$12k in that FX acct with NT brokerage. Now the fills are real stinko. Accts >= $20k are consider Active Trader status and have a better spread.
Yeah I would not use vwap on FX instruments....won't mean much as I understand it. Levels and momentum, news, trading ranges....thing like this....all filtered though my intuition is how I trade it. But honestly not into it much currently for the reasons I mentioned.
Just right now added CBOE Futures data with IQFEED so I can trade and take a look at CBOE's Bitcoin futures XBT. Have been watching the CME's BTC and I don't really like it at $25/tick. To much risk on this volatile product/instrument. All it trades is 1 lots because of it. I profile volume. I need more/better volume to do my job. Just in the 2 sec I have had XBT up I can see better depth in the book already and the market is closed.

VWAP may work with FOREX in case that the FOREX data provider supplies tick volume. Otherwise it is possible to replace volume with the square of the tick range and get an excellent approximation without using volume.
Thank you for the information on NT8, and your experience.Ive used vwap for a while, and i like it for context.Heck, my session templates are wrong, so the vwap is wrong as well, even if there was volume. Also, i cant even imagine trading bitcoin.I heard that Goldman was creating a trading desk focussed on the crypto currencies.
thank you Fat Tails. That sounds interesting.I used vwap and got used to it because i assumed that institutions use it for futures.Coming over to forex, i knew volume would be an issue. Also, Have you coded a session template for NT7 for forex? Im having difficulty getting correct pivots for the spreads.Im trading eurusd, usdjpy, and a few others that have acceptable spreads. Thanks again, I appreciate the feedback! I just took a look at your twap indicator,,,i wonder if that would be useful.MRPHR mentioned this earlier in the thread. On another thread, i saw a post from a while back you made on session pivots for nt7.You recommended session pivots v1.6.Ive been using the ana weekly and monthly pivots on the NT7 platform. They were ok on the fxcm demo, but not now that ive opened an account.I think its because of the session being incorrect.I have session set to forex on nt7.basically 5pm to 5pm.The quest continues
I'm trying to make the move from Metatrader, which has crasshed over 4x in 2 months removing all my zones, to a serious platform but the spreads are ridiculous.
Im seeing that on FXCM the spreadbetting is cheaper then their Forex spreads? What is the difference between the 2?
Would it be an option to use Ninjatrader with FXCM datafeed and then place the trades in another platform? If so what other TrueECN broker uses a serious platform and has a similar datafeed to FXCM
Giacomo, you can certainly choose your broker.Trade the level has a thread here, and he ,as well as a few others, are very knowledgable on this subject
