Hi Traders, First of all I would like to thank Big Mike for creating and maintaining such a wonderful website.

I joined the forum recently and spent some time in looking at threads related to algo trading. I could able to get some information but couldn't go further based on my requirements. I am a programmer with 20+ years of experience in various platforms and working on new technologies is never a constraint to me.

Here is my question. I would like to build a custom solution where I should able to connect to a broker/data provider and place orders automatically based on a simple custom strategy. The symbols that I would like read are not static. For example, I would like to read list of all stocks based on certain price/volume range on a daily interval where RSI is greater than 50 and should able to place orders on all the stocks where the condition is true. The same logic is applicable in closing the open orders. I just talked to MotiveWave and learned that their application is limited to one symbol at a time in placing the orders automatically.

Do you guys know any applications that supports these type of requirements through their API/Framework? Any information on this regard is highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to this great forum!

I don't know how it looks in MotiveWave, but I can't imagine with the best will in the world that you can only place one order with MW. MW is an excellent software with a lot of features. Maybe someone else can tell you more about MW.

I myself am a Ninjatrader user and NT is also a professional trading platform. You can program everything you want, there are really almost no restrictions. Since you have solid programming skills it should be a piece of cake for you. NT is C#, so the world is your oyster.

Here you can find more information about it. Of course you have to learn it and take your time to understand how it works and the important aspects of strategy development.

Good luck and have fun.

Thank you for the information Patricia.

I really like MW application as they support more brokers and data feeds. Also they are constantly adding new features in every release. I am bit surprised when the sales guy confirmed (after checking with their development team) that the scope of the custom study is tightly associated with the symbol on the current chart.

I will reach out to NT team for more information. Feeling good that their framework is built using .Net as I worked on C# too.

Thank you once again.
