@Pa Dax

All the contributions in this thread have been helpful. I often go and re-read what others have written here. If I have forgotten to thank someone, here it is, thank you very much! I am sure this thread is helpful to more than one person on this forum.

I am not opposed to paying for something as long as I see value in it. It would be extremely helpful to see how exactly elite membership can help someone like me. With the help of others here, I see general use but would like to see a direct application for someone in my circumstances. I am wide open to suggestions.

So far, I have plenty to keep me busy: an access to a couple of specialized forums and free webinars here and there. At the same time, I am trying to finish Volman's book and keep going back to the Brooks' one.

To be fair, I have signed up to Facebook/Twitter updates to win FIO membership and entered the contest to win one their gift cards. Those who enjoy giving thanks, can help my post there,

All the best!

Thank you. Have you looked at other guys who have contributed in the field of trading psychology?

For example, I've recently watched a video with Rich Reilley. He says many same things as everybody else but his ten rules are somewhat helpful (paraphrased):

1. Treat evened-out trades are a success.

2. Limit orders to enter and market orders to exit.

3. Never average out.

4. Do not let a successful trade to go under.

5. Stay flexible.

6. Do not let the opinions of others to control you.

7. Better to earn 1 tick in 100 trades than 100 ticks in 1 trade.

8. Learn from your mistakes (journal, analysis).

9. 3 losses in a row - take a break.

10. Do not hope, do not wish, do not pray ;-).

No way he got it all but he has some valuable points, like everybody else.

Assuming you read all of Mark Douglas' works, can you sum up his approach in a few sentences?

Denise Shull is at the forefront of trading psychology these days. Watch the short video she has on Amazon at this link.

I can’t sum up nearly 1000 pages. Best I can tell you is trade live, risk real money and witness yourself doing it. There is not IMHO a quick route to success in this trading business. It’s all about self discovery. It’s a huge illusion that it’s about anything else.

Of course, you have to decide based on your own judgment, and it's entirely your choice.

With that said, people join as Elite because they see value in being part of this community and they want more of what they have already seen, and they actually want to contribute to other traders, too. It's about taking part in the larger group. The non-Elite part of the forum is just a part of the whole, and an introduction.

However, you either will take that step or you won't. Basically, asking people to prove its value to you before you commit to it (and spend your money) means that you are not convinced by what you have seen so far, and it is a rational choice, in that case, not to do it.

I would note that the members who have contributed to you are generally Elite. I would also note this from @Pa Dax:

You might enter a point where it consumes too much time of from the ones that are helping you out currently.

You have enjoyed a period where others are willing to give essentially unlimited help, and you are basically saying "Thanks for the help, and keep it coming, but I am not convinced about this sales pitch you are giving me about spending my money."

You should know that the stated purpose of the Elite fee is to keep out the non-serious: spammers, the casually curious, the free-riders. Requiring a commitment, even a small one, makes people decide what is important.

I am not trying to sell you something, and I am not going to try to do anything to convince you. I am not going to try to show you why it would be "a direct application for someone in my circumstances." You have seen some of what this forum is about, and you can make your own decisions based on what is important to you.

I am trying to be fair, and I am also reaching the end of my rope, as @Pa Dax suggested may happen, with someone who only wants to receive.

This may be my last post to this journal. (Which should not affect you one way or another; it's still your decision.) Make whatever choices you think are best.

Bob.
