So I've been toying with this idea for a while... But I have't been able to find a way to make it work. A lot of my trading relies on Hotkeys and with Ninjatrader i feel a bit.... limited.
I'm trying to find a way to use hotkeys to select my ATM strategies, while also submitting an order at the same time.
For example: when a hotkey is triggered it will select the corresponding ATM strategy, then place a buy or sell order. Hotkey trigger>ATM>Buy/Sell.
I'm not a coder, so that isn't really an option for me.
Has anyone tried something like this before? Any suggestions on how I can make this happen?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I thought ATM strategies automatically start when you place any orders while using Hotkeys.
Are you trying to select multiple strategies using multiple Hotkeys?
Fyi, I use buy bid and sell ask Hotkeys, Ctrl + X and Ctrl + V correspondingly. And they work pretty good. But of course, just make sure you chart is focused to use them, i.e. your chart is on the foreground and enabled.

What you are looking for makes sense to me.
It can be done with custom programming without a doubt. I don't feel you can do exactly what you are looking for without it, but, you can basically accomplish the same with order entry hot keys.
It won't be an ATM you made before. You will have to create your own targets and stops etc. So for example: strike a hot key to enter....hot key for OCO.....hot key for targets hot key for stops...etc etc.... OCO hot key, turning off. Something like this.
Set up ahead of time custom orders with diff distances for targets and stops each with its own hot keys. Then you just use whichever one is correct for the situation.

I would recommend one of these. There are many to choose from.

Hmm.. Very interesting. Thank you for the info! I'll give it a shot.
I figured this would be something that I would need coded (to do exactly what I need), but the developers I normally use are either too busy at the moment, or aren't able to make something like this. I guess i'll have to reach out to some new developers. In the meantime, I'll try your method and see how it works.
Also- I currently use the Elgato StreamDeck for my hotkeys... One of the best purchases I've ever made for trading (See photo)
By the way, if you're trading in US hours with those many keystrokes / Hotkeys, don't you think your entries and stops might lag because of the total time taken to execute all those Hotkeys?
