Switching from IBKR after 4 years for a number of reasons(nothing major)...TWS's charts being trash is a primary one. Curious what you all recommend to pair with AMP?

https://www.ampfutures.com/trading-platform

Primarily trade intraday micros, charting and UI/ease of use is high priority, price is a factor as well...I will pay for a good platform but Im not exactly a high roller in need of top tier software. Leaning towards tradingview as I have some experience with them and I like that they have a mobile ap.

thanks everyone.

Here are some of the popular options:

SierraChart:

This is what I use. The software is ultra-reliable, uses minimal system resources, and you can make it do virtually anything you want. My charts look and move like TradingView. My DOM is customized exactly how I want it. Sierra is absolutely rock solid and I rely on it every day. Their Denali/Teton datafeed is excellent, as well.

There are some downsides, though. First, the settings menus are dense, unintuitive, and sometimes just confusing. Some people who have used Sierra for years are still figuring out what some sub-menu options do. Every function is documented on their website, but the docs can be daunting, perplexing, or just plain confusing. If you've ever wanted to read a 10,000 word webpage written in the least user-friendly way possible just to figure out how to change the color of a volume profile, SierraChart is for you. And the customer service is comically awful. Whoever runs the support boards seems not annoyed, but rather seems absolutely incensed that these goddam customers are asking all these questions. Even wrapping my head around their payment system took more time than expected.

So considering all that, it saddens me to have to report Sierra is probably the top trading platform to use with AMP because the software is just so stable and reliable.

Ninja Trader
A lot of people seem to like NT. I've never used it. A few traders I know said that the data gets laggy and off-kilter during busy times, but it is quite popular and my sample size is very small.

Quantower
Several traders I know really like OptimusFlow, which I believe is a re-labeled version of Quantower. In the past few months I've read more and more positive comments about from people that I talk to every day. Actually, before you commit to AMP, take a look at Optimus Futures. Friends who use it have had a great experience thusfar OptimusFLOW is free, and the customer service is outstanding. Apparently, some dude named JAKE is always available to help with things.

MotiveWave
I checked this out during a week-long trial. It was decent, but I'm already so entrenched with Sierra that I didn't delve too deeply. Might be worth looking into though.

TradingView
If you're not an orderflow/DOM-reliant trader and not doing any ultra-fast scalping, using AMP via TradingView is not a bad experience. I love TV for charting, and it's nice to have your trading tools in the same system.

Note: None of these platforms have mobile apps, as far as I know, though MotiveWave is working on one. But if you're using AMP, you're probably using a CQG feed or Rithmic feed. Both of those services have free apps. They're not the best, but they work in a pinch.

BUT IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD ALSO CONSIDER

Tradovate
If you're just switching from IBKR, take a look at Tradovate. The trading platform is built in, and you can access it from any web browser. It also integrates with TradingView. So you can have your charts in Tradingvew, your Tradovate DOM in a browser window, and the trades sync flawlessly. Tradovate also lets you can see your account balance in real time, with commissions, etc. factored in (unlike AMP). If I wasn't using Sierra Chart, Optimus Futures or Tradovate would be my #2 picks.

Update: I edited this post like 55 times b/c of all the typos I made after a looong trading day

You forgot MultiCharts, which is quite good.
I prefer Ninja, easier to code with it IMHO.
Sierra chart UI is a bit old school and, more annoying, a bit confusing.

NinjaTrader cannot be used with AMP.

When NinjaTrader established its own brokerage firm, NinjaTrader Brokerage, some years ago, it changed its previous business model and no longer allowed the NT platform to be used by other brokers, except for a very small group (which does include Interactive Brokers, by the way.)

In addition, Ninja and AMP had a business dispute even before that, and Ninja broke with AMP. It has not allowed AMP customers to use NT since then. So AMP will provide a large number of platforms, but not NinjaTrader.

Except for those having bought Ninja before a certain date. I am with AMP/CQG and still use Ninja.

Right. I didn't put that situation in, and there are traders who can use both together if they were in before the breakup.

The magic of Google let me pull that date out of the dim past: March 10, 2015. So if you were an AMP/NT user on that date or earlier, you are in. If not, then you're not. https://www.ampfutures.com/existinguserpolicy

The question that launched the thread was "Switching from IBKR after 4 years for a number of reasons(nothing major)...TWS's charts being trash is a primary one. Curious what you all recommend to pair with AMP?" So in that connection, NT is not going to be an option, since it is not available for a new person switching to AMP for the first time, and looking for a platform to use there.

I did semi-remember the case of someone like yourself who is able to continue using your old NT license with AMP, but as with many things, it was only "semi" remembered.

Thanks for filling in the not-quite-remembered detail.

Chart with a TradeStation account and trade with a Trade Futures 4 Less account, Motive Wave (standard).

thanks everyone.

I was a fan of Tradingview and I think it is still the best platform for chartig. But for actual trading I was searching for a better, more reliable platform. Tried CGQ One, I think it is wirth giving a shot. It's web-based and has essentially everything what a futures trader needs. But now I'm digging into Sierra Chart and it seems to be my new place to be. Only one week with Sierra Chart and I love it.
