1)They are supported by many brokers out there and many datafeeds. Now even running their own which should be highly reliable and high quality, for very small price, with upcoming internals for many stocks indicies.
2) its pricing is done very good and it is cheap
3) it has everything you need, from basic things to volume profile, footprints, DOM trading, chart trading, you can customize everything
4) great support board and updates on daily basis, still improving
Overall great platform which never crushes and is better and better.
I was using NT for a while and it is great. Easy for technical trading, great charting, BUT. I paid a license for 3 months and I've had a connection problem once (Rithmic data feed) and there's no Static DOM. You either buy credits from TT or you pay per transaction (it's like 10 cents per order or smth like that). Now I jumped to SC and I love it. It is cheaper and the DOM is static and easy to use. Never crashed (not yet) and it loads very fast. So my choice is SC for sure.
I do not have a wealth of experience in platforms and could do with advice.
What I love about Ninja is that you can create a set of profit and loss entries and the package all gets entered simultaneously (e.g. stop loss at 20 below, limit profit taking at 10,20, 50) and you can adjust this visually on the chart.
The down side is that Ninja has a few bugs/weaknesses/"features" that can screw up a trade.
Can anyone suggest alternatives given that this is what I am most interested in?
in terms of NT vs SC... having tested SC, I would pick SC over NT everytime... you can customize your charts with little effort using their built-in indicators and their support puts out fixes within days if you report them... also, try charting a spread with NT7... good luck with that effort... with SC, though not as simple as CQG or eSignal lets say, it can still be done... so hands down SC anytime over NT7...
SC the strongest opponent for NT for many parameters
* If investing gets too difficult for a seventh grader to understand, the system is needlessly complex
* Markets produce an enormous volume of information, much of which is redundant
* In every game and con there's always an opponent, and there's always a victim. The trick is to know when you're the latter, so you can become the former
First, let me say I have a lifetime license to Ninjatrader and do like it....BUT I am switching to Sierra Charts for the following reasons
1) Included Volume and Market Profile Charts
2) Included Volume Footprint Charts
3) The CHART DOM (nobody else has this...a great feature)
4) A Static Dom !!
5) A very large list of indicators
6) Ability to easily customize indicators without the need to know programming code
7) Charts load almost instantly
8) Automatic Rollover of Futures contracts based on volume or date, etc... (I can't stress how big of a deal this is to me)
9) SC Stores historical bid/ask data.
10)Ability to customize your platform to the point of ridiculousness
11) The best online user manual I have ever seen.
12) Stable, never ever crashes. Uses minimal system resources.
13) Can run multiple instances of SC simultaneously on different computers
14) The most competitive pricing I have ever seen...$40 per month which can go down significantly if you pay a year in advance.
15) Did I forgot to mention a great chart trader.
16) Server side OCO orders (if your connection supports it)
17) Multiple Bar Types...for example 2 different types of renkos, 5 variations of range bars, etc.
I would invite anybody to try a free trial and judge for yourself. The choice was clear for me.
