Pats, for instance through Berkeley Futures, is one of the few alternatives to IB when it comes to access a wide range of global exchanges. I'm also saddened that it disappears
Yes...I trade through Phillips. Two years ago, when I started and invested money and efforts with NT7, the awareness is low, but the momentum is building and it would be a shame that NT drop off PAT connectivity support in NT8. A growing number of Asian traders are discovering that they can actually connect NT with PAT API for live trading through local trader chat forums. Most of the Asian traders especially the old hand locals and the incoming young turks are price ladder traders using PATS JTrader client without charts and these boys are trading in really big sizes especially for spread traders. NT8 should be "spread" capable if NT wants a bigger share of these traders. That probably give you a false picture of the probable potential of NT users in this region. Once they realize what the NT8 DOM with customizable columns alone can offer them...you can assume that they will switch over just to exploit that added capability for their edge. The other thing is that most Asian FCMs are predominantly using PATs for the Asian exchanges.
Thanks for the thoughtful answer. We have been in and out of discussions with Phillips in Singapore for sometime which is why I asked. At this point, Patsystems support is not officially out, I am still understanding the business case and Asia is part of those discussions.
Pats there would include scandinavian Nasdaq OMX, Hong-Kong HKex, spanish MEFFVR and many more. I will ask them if CQG is that extensive. Usually it can be close but not quite.
Thanks again for the encouraging response. I hope these additional background notes might be useful.
1) A number of Asian FCM for BMD and SGX are using RJO to route trades for respective local exchanges plus the other available global exchanges mostly through the PAT JTrader client for outright and spread trading.
2) I prefer NT on Continuum to trade the local exchanges if available but it was a difficult journey for the past 6 months since Jan 2014 when this option is available as announced by NT, to locate an Asian FCM that offers that connectivity including Phillip Spore.
NT8 is going to be awesome. I can't wait for its release. All the new programming objects will spur thousands of imaginative creations. futures.io (formerly BMT) will undoubtedly be a depository and sounding board for these new innovations.
Please advise the "concurrent" connectivity capability for NT8 on TTNet/CQG/Continuum/Rithmic and currently in consideration PAT brokerage technology.
Example
Ninjatrader Brokerage NT on Continuum currently support futures products for US and Europe exchanges. A trader would then have to trade through another FCM on NT/CQG/Continuum to access the Asian exchanges. Please advise whether this is possible for the trader to support outright and inter-exchanges spreads aka arbitrage trades especially for precious metals, grains and oilseeds.
This is just a broader commentary hoping to give some credence for NT's Asia business case. There is an immense arbitrage opportunities for spread traders and their FCMs on inter-Asian futures exchanges especially on
precious metals e.g. Comex Gold vs. MCX Gold vs BMD Gold
grains e.g. CBOT Soybean vs MCX Soybean vs Dalian soybean
oilseeds e.g. BMD CPO vs DCE CPO, etc
FCM like LT INTERNATIONALS recognise this and I understand that some FCMs are talking to a HK company Ayers Solutions Limited - Partners to put in place an arbitrage trading platform (expected operational by end Q3 2014) that allow traders to trade inter-exchange futures products between US, India, China and the rest of the Asian exchanges.
I noted from the recent NT8 webinar that Ray hinted of discussions with ?HK and India partners to tap into China and India markets respectively...not sure whether it is the same as above. What that means to me as a trader is that NT8 should have these capability to support
concurrent connectivity for a supported brokerage technology
spread-capable NT8 trading/charting platform e.g. JTrader client allows the trader to setup MEL.."multiple exchanges legs" for futures and options
NT Brokerage to cover Asian exchanges as well.
With NinjaTrader 8 platform using our Multi-Broker license, you can establish multiple concurrent connections with any of the above mentioned technologies in any combination.
