I use Ninjatrader/Broker with Jigsaw Daytradr and connect via the bridge.
This works great but unfortunately Jigsaw does not allow me to use their charts with this connection. I asked for their advice and it seems I will need to get another data feed to accomplish this.
My questions are:
1. does anyone know of an NT addon that duplicates what the Jigsaw Swing Chart can do and
2. does anyone have any advice on a relatively inexpensive data feed if I need to resort to that.
Many thanks in advance.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
1. The vast majority of people here won't have used Jigsaw so perhaps if you explained what feature it is about the Swing Chart you like, then somebody might be able to suggest something.
2. I believe the cheapest data feed for Ninja is Kinetick. A simplified version of DTN IQFeed that unlike that data feed, only works with the Ninjatrader platform so is a reduced price.
Either that or open a broker account at Ninja, put the minimum balance in to allow live data, perhaps $500, then pay cheap non-pro data fees for the exchange you want. You only need basic level 1 data for simple charts.
Okay, so I opened Jigsaw out of curiosity. This chart was opened on a Tradovate account and has back filled the chart. The five minute chart includes the previous day. Did I read somewhere that Ninjatrader doesn't back fill the data to Jigsaw which is what the issue is?
A JT Swing Chart is just a zig zag indicator add on. I am sure Ninjatrader has one of those. The Jigsaw version though shows swing distance in ticks with swing volume but colours the swing red if the swing down volume is larger than the previous one, or blue if the swing up volume is larger than the previous one.
A third option would be to add a minimum balance Tradovate account or similar as a second data connection to Jigsaw so you can carry on with their charts.
You do not win as a trader, you just get to play again the next day. If that game doesn’t appeal to you then you should not trade. Gary Norden
I had wondered this morning what the AF was in the settings.
Level 2 has the order book depth required for a DOM otherwise you don't see the pending orders showing. Level 2 would also be required for Jigsaw Vista charts or Bookmap heatmap charts that show the order book depth.
For the Swing Chart you would only need Level 1 data for simple charts, quote boards, time and sales as level 1 has that transacted volume at price information.

I have been considering buying/trying Jigsaw. Is there some reason that people here tend to be unfamiliar with it? Given the number of fio webinars about JS, I'm surprised by your claim. I watched a recent youtube video where the tuber was bashing JS a bit, saying that it might have been good 10 years ago, but not any more. But as that tuber also has their own indicator product they were pedaling, I don't consider him to be very credible. Is order flow trading ineffective? I would appreciate your insight.
There's no perfect solution to this. I've made videos about it before, but the long and short of it is this. The only alternative to the bridge is to use R|Trader Pro's plugin mode to forward data to both applications. However, to fully utilize NinjaTrader 8 features you need to use NinjaTrader as your broker, and the new NinjaTrader clearing only supports continuum data. The demo versions of NinjaTrader still support Rithmic data, but then you can't use any of the licensed NinjaTrader features.
It's still possible things change in the future though. There's three ways I see this problem being fixed
Jigsaw is just a tool. You have to think how do you trade and then figure out how to do it and what tools can you use. You don?t take a hammer and then ask yourself what could I do with this tool. If you trade MES or ES you?ve better tools, have a look to EdgeProx.
