Hi guys,

NexusFi is challenging members to create the best NinjaTrader indicators and share them to our "Downloads" section, for a chance to win some prizes!

Why NinjaTrader
I am specifically calling for NinjaTrader indicators at this time. I realize there are plenty of members that use other great platforms, and we will include them soon in future challenges. For this particular challenge, we are focusing only on NinjaTrader 8 indicators.

How to add your indicator to our "Downloads" area
First, export your indicator in NinjaTrader to a zip file. Keep in mind that we do not permit closed source (DLL) indicators to be uploaded -- we only allow indicators where the full code is open to all, for safety and for the ability to easily modify and customize them.

If you need help exporting your indicator from NinjaTrader, please go ahead and ask in this thread.

Second, once you have the ZIP file, you'll need to take a screenshot of your NinjaTrader chart that contains the indicator example that you wish to share with other members. If you need help taking the screenshot, please ask in this thread. JPG and PNG is welcome.

(Optional) If your indicator would benefit from a discussion thread on the site, feel free to create a new thread that talks about the indicator. You should probably do that before submitting your indicator, so you can grab the URL for the thread, and add that to the description of the indicator so others may quickly jump to your thread.

Third, you need to Add to our Download section. Click this link to go directly to the Add Entry to NinjaTrader 8 Indicator page:

https://nexusfi.com/local_links.php?action=addlink&catid=27

From this location, put the details of your indicator into the form and then when finished, click submit. You'll add the name of the indicator, a description, keywords (like EMA, ADR, Order Flow, Volume Profile), you'll upload the ZIP file from your computer, and you'll upload the screenshot of your chart as the image.

Don't worry about the other fields -- just leave them alone and at default values.

Last, click Submit at the bottom of the form to add the indicator to our site. Congrats! We appreciate your submission and sharing.

The next post will talk about prizes!

Mike

My apologies for interrupting.

I accidentally downloaded a NT8 script (jprBollingerBands) into the NT7 area using https://nexusfi.com/local_links.php?action=addlink&catid=19 (link which I had in my OLD notes) instead of https://nexusfi.com/local_links.php?action=addlink&catid=27.

How do I move it to the NT8 area? Or can you move it for me?

JT

Done.

You could have moved it yourself by selecting the "Edit" icon and changing where it was posted to originally.

Any other challenge out? We should do this again! Did we get enough interest in it?

Good idea Sody.... I am out of time to do any indies for quite a while... We are doing a major redo on the yards and I am the chief cook and bottle washer.... There are some sharp trader / coders out there.... and I would bet that Ninja would be thrilled to have a larger pot of quality indies available.

Take Care and Trade Well !!!

We are bringing this NinjaTrader Challenge back to NexusFi for 2024!

Given that we have several challenges ongoing, I have altered the payout as follows:

We will award one prize for this specific event for every month.

Only new indicators submitted during the challenge month will be considered.

Winners will be selected based on popularity -- determined by the number of comments/ratings the indicator receives. We cannot measure based on downloads, as it is too easy to cheat. So we measure based on number of comments/ratings each indicator receives, as it's common for people to rate the indicator they download. We ask you to be honest!

Based on this, don't delay with your uploads! You are free to upload more than one indicator!

Prize:
1st place = $50 Amazon Gift card PLUS a $149 Elite Membership free coupon to give away to whomever you wish.

One prize per member, resets after six months. NexusFi reserves all judgment on how to award prizes or declare winners.

Instructions for how to participate:

Thank you guys! Looking forward to seeing what you share...

Mike

How about creating lines on the chart that show: ETH HI/LO, RTH HI/LO, IB HI/LO, PREVIOUS DAY RTH HI/LO, RTH MID, RTH CLOSE, ETH MID, RTH OPEN, PREVIOUS WEEK HI/LO -- Calculated on each tick and clearly marked with letters?

@pashas66,

Good news -- what you're describing is one of the most common requests among ES and CL traders using NinjaTrader, and there are solid options already out there.

Free Options First

The NexusFi Downloads section has several free indicators that cover portions of what you're looking for. Some plot session highs/lows and opening range levels. Worth browsing before spending money.

Commercial Solutions

If you want everything in one package with clean labels:
  • Chart Spots makes an Initial Balance & Daily Levels indicator that covers most of your list
  • Code-N-Trade has a Daily Levels indicator
  • TradeDevils offers an Initial Balance indicator

These typically run $50-150 and handle the tick-by-tick calculations you mentioned.

DIY Route

If you're comfortable with NinjaScript, the standard approach is using AddDataSeries to add a hidden RTH data series to your ETH chart -- then you reference that series for session values. Not trivial if you're new to coding, but plenty of examples exist in the NinjaTrader forums.

For ES and CL specifically, the levels you listed are bread-and-butter reference points. Previous day RTH high/low and the opening range (IB) tend to see the most action. The weekly levels add context for bigger picture structure.

What's your priority -- do you want a ready-made solution, or are you looking to build something custom?
