Weis Waves (or Weis Wave Volume) come from David Weis, who adapted Richard Wyckoff’s principles.

Imagine the market as a sequence of waves (up and down moves).

Instead of looking only at time (like normal candles), Weis focused on price movement + volume.

Each wave is measured by the total volume traded during that move (up or down).

When the price changes direction, a new wave starts, and its volume begins accumulating.

👉 The idea:

If an up wave is strong but volume is low → it’s probably weak buying.

If a down wave is strong but volume is high → it could mean smart money is selling.

It helps see effort vs result (volume vs price movement), which is key in Wyckoff/VSA analysis.

📊 In practice, traders use Weis Waves to:

Spot when a trend is losing strength (volume not confirming the move).

Detect absorption or exhaustion.

Identify potential reversals or continuation setups.

It’s very popular among Wyckoff traders and scalpers, especially in tick or Renko charts, because it filters out the noise of time-based candles.

It’s great to join this forum, although I am really not sure where to start.

I have been tinkering with trading for a number of years but started to take it seriously in the last 12 months after falling down a rabbit hole of Trend and Momentum trading.

I am inspired by other momentum traders like Ed Seykota and Gary Antonacci, and hoping to find like minds to share ideas with.
