Thanks for having a forum like this; I'm glad to be part of it.
I stay in paper-trade mode, as free time on weekdays is short, and I'm committed to nailing down a system before risking $. I could move pretty fast if everything clicks.
I wanted to introduce myself. I am new to the forum, but not new to trading. I've been trading stocks, stock options (primarily selling verticals and iron condors) since 1996. As you, Mike relate in your introduction, I too have blown up more than one account. As of January 1 of this year I began trading ES Eminis after virtually trading them for 6 months. Also, in January, I started trading full-time. January was a rough month as I needed to get up to speed with live trading the ES, but since I've been making money. I have also been trading the CL virtually and that is what led me to this forum after I googled the CL and found you. I am currently still trading the ES for 2-4 points per day goal and currently I'm above 2 most days. The biggest challenge for me after going full-time was the mental side and the discipline of trading (being comfortable waiting for a setup and not forcing it). That is still probably my biggest challenge and I have been coached by other full-time traders I must give that some of my most focused attention. Eventually, I would like to be trading the CL live. My trading plan is a simple one that I've adapted from another trader utilizing the ES and building up the number of contracts as I reach my cumulative goals for each level. Thanks so much for making this forum available, Bill
Hey guys, my name is Simon from Frankfurt Germany. I started trading about a year ago and somehow I haven't blown up my first account yet. I am looking forward to learn from all of you and would like to thank everybody who is contributing to this unique forum.
My name is Ken and I have been trading for almost four years. I haven't blown-up my account, yet, but I've come pretty close. I did well trading options on equities, and then I tried futures. Close to disaster! Then someone asked me what I did when I was profitable. So I'm back to trading options on equities, and doing so-so.
I am looking forward to working with all on this forum. I stumbled on it by chance (?) or maybe something was guiding my hand. Either way, it looks like the thing I need.
My name is Mark, I am a complete newb, I started to learn to trade in February, have been in and out of sim a couple of times already, had some very good days and some very bad ones, I am currently going through the over trading stage, but will hopefully shrug that off soon.
I mainly trade the 6E, I occasionally look at CL, but have had a few bad draw downs so tend to leave alone at the moment, until I find either a method, or I feel more comfortable with my trading technique.
I have been schooled by TI, yes I know, but actually they have been a great help for someone starting from scratch, from sales to trader is quite a switch.
I have done a lot of reading and webinars and can see that a lot of people go through the self doubt stage as well as indicator searches, etc, basically looking for the holy grail that is going to make this easy.
I live in the UK, (who'd of guessed with the name), so have had a lot of chart time watching both the European and US markets time frames, still trying to find the sweet spot for trading for me, at the moments doing what I can to get up to speed with all that is available to help me. Any recommendations would be great by the way, trading or other. The Roger Felton Webinar was probably one of the best I have seen, just need to get my head around Line Break Bars.
I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Brian, I live in NY. I've been trading professionally for about 6 years. My trading journey started in penny NASDAQ stocks swinging for a day or two on my own with my own $, then to leveraged day trading, reading the tape on NYSE with a few prop firms in NYC (and doing pretty well at it) until it went hybrid - what a clusterf**k that was!! Anyways, moved to NASDAQ trading GOOG and BIDU, but algorithms and commissions were killing me, wow..I don't even bother with stocks now, so many bad memories. So I moved to futures about 2 1/2 years ago, found my niche, adapted and loved it since. I've blown up a few times, but who hasn't, it's tuition as far as I'm concerned. I've never been more determined to get it right than now and feel so very close success on the newest iteration of my trading self, which is algorithmic programming and automating what I know from my years of experiences.
All of which lead me here to futures.io (formerly BMT) forum, and to NinjaTrader 7.0 (one time lifetime payment -cost effective) which is my current platform, after 6 years of eSignal (great service, but you pay for it, and not cost effective over a long trading career).
Now I get data through Kinetick and trade through Velocity. I couldn't be happier so far. I get a great rates and never have network problems - I've traded at home for the last 3 years, and after many years of poor tech and network support at prop firms and getting raped on rates futures are a breath of fresh air.
Anyways, I'm Brian and that's my story. Hello futures.io (formerly BMT)!
