I started out with Tradestation trading futures and ended up with destroyed account so I have been on the sidelines for several years. Recently started back with Ninja Trader and trading ETFs mostly. I am living and working in Germany so i can trade the US markets after work.
This is a good forum and I hope i can continue to learn and contribute.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I've discovered this blog only since a couple of days, but it seems to be very interesting!
I'm new in trading. so let me spend some words to explain you why.
Till three years ago, I didn't know anything about trading and i didn't want to know about.
But, after i have lost my money cause to the Lehmann failure, I decided to explore this world, in order to get better for me and my family.
I use NT since the last year, and at moment, the money I've lost is more then the one I gained.
For this reason, I'm still looking for the best way to trade, and I carefully read the post of the more experienced people, in order to learn everything I can to improve myself
Just for the record, this is a forum - not a blog. My blog (blog.bigmiketrading.com) hasn't been updated in a long time, it was discontinued in favor of the forum. A blog is more of a one-way street, where the forum is two-way discussion.
Thanks for setting up the forum, I think I should have joined months ago. I've been paper trading for 18 months and live trading for the past 4 months and losing money each month since going live. So now I've made my mistakes and I'm here to learn more about trading so I can calm my heartbeat while my money is on the line and also to make trading my sole source of income. Any tips, book recommendations and advice would be more than welcome.
Heard about your blog and wanted to check it out. I mainly trade currency and futures.....I am rebounding off a large drawdown. This is my second blowup the account, figured this time slow in easy... I use tradestation and have used metatrader 4 but when your starting from zero there is only one way up.

For the record, this is not a blog - it is a forum. I stopped updating my blog quite some time ago. A blog is more just a one way street from one person to others, whereas a forum is all about group discussion.
Hello everyone, I'm particleman14 and I am just beginning my journey into trading. A little about myself. I studied finance in college and recently graduated in 2010. I know a little bit about investing and was taught a Keynesian style curriculum. I was in an investment club when I overheard a member talk about his day-trading adventures, which made our teachers scold him saying over 90% of people fail.
However that conversation piqued my interest and I did some research and found out about electronic day trading. I had always knew it existed and had my own e-trade account, but I never understood how a retail investor could get into the game until I discovered ninjatrader and the low commission brokerages. I never realized you can take position over hours instead of months or years, which is what I had studied in school.
I have been trial testing for about 5 months in ninjatrader, and just went live trading about 1 weeks ago. I will be starting a journal soon as well to keep track of my progress. I view this as an opportunity to see if I can hack it at this sort of life. I hope this forum will help me grow and evolve so soon I can contribute good content myself.
My story is probably very simular to most of you. Been trading on and off (more off than on)for about 10 years.
Had some success but usually(no, always) end up giving it all back to the trader Gods! Plus some.
Haven't traded any in about a year. I have recently had some changes in my business life that has allowed
me more time to devote to trading with less distractions. I have spent more time on the mental side of trading
this time around. Recently read "Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglas. Best book I've read to date on trading.
This book has helped open my eyes to areas of my trading that were causing me the biggest problems.
I will not go back to live trading for at least 30-45 days. Gonna be sure I get it right this time
I am new to trading. I have background in programming and is interested in using NJT to back test strategies and ultimately create an auto-trading engine. It is great to have a place where we can share knowledge, ideas, tidbits with people with similar interests.
