My vote is "View Post" and "Change Subscription." I always thought "View Newest Post" was an odd way to say it, because I was expecting to just view this post (I know it would be the newest, but is that needed on the button?)
When you click the second button, you go over to the Subscriptions page, so it makes sense to me to just say so. When you go to that page, you can change anything about your subscriptions. As for me, I have never changed the frequency -- the only changes I ever made were to delete a subscription. You can do that too here.
Made some real progress today with the search feature. Had inspiration and was able to knock it out with 100% success.
1. Deleted threads (usually spam) will no longer show up in the quick-search results (top right search box).
2. Non-Elite Members can now see thread titles of Elite threads, they show in Yellow (for all members now).
Previously, non-Elite Members could browse the Elite subforums and see thread titles, but when clicking on a thread they would be given a no permission page.
This is now much improved, where they can search and see the list of threads (in yellow) in search results -- but still can't view actual content unless Elite.
Item #1 will solve a lot of confusion and emails to me asking why a thread is missing.
Item #2 will hopefully demonstrate to non-Elite Members the amount of high quality content they are missing.
And then in the future, Item #3 will be to further enhance this live search now that I've dug into it and understand the code... I have several ideas for ways to improve it...
That's mostly it for me today, off to circuit training then yoga!
As a fellow practitioner, I'll say I'm super glad to see you getting into yoga. Pretty amazing stuff, helps keep even this old dude feeling younger, stronger and more flexible. You might also consider looking into Qi Gong or Tai Chi. Good on ya bro.
Almost every time I log onto Fio I get the "How-to Succeed in Trading w/Peter Davies" pop up.
It would be nice if pop ups would be tied to the database, i.e. once the user has seen it once, they should not be seen again.
I appreciate that's probably my odd browser configuration which does not keep cookies, but I thought I'd put it out there - not sure how difficult to implement would be either.
It's "almost every time" though, meaning, occasionally I don't get the pop up.
EDIT: I've just realized, it is likely cookie-based, given when cookies are reset the pop up shows up again.
Use of cookies is mandatory or will break a lot of things on the site. You should add an exception to your third-party blocker.
It is on my to-do list to tie this particular cookie to the database, but not for cases like yours --- but rather for people who use multiple devices (which would each have their own cookie).
In preparation for the new setup, I've had to alter a couple dozen database tables. These changes are live on the production server. There should be zero impact for members, but if you see any unusual errors/error pages/odd behavior please report it.
