I am getting an odd variant of this. I clicked on the New button on New Posts and, in some cases, landed on posts I have already viewed, but in other cases did not.
I'll see if I can import a screen image of one of them:
Nope. Selected the file, clicked Upload, got message "Upload of file failed."
Url of this page (the one where the New button got me to an older, already-read post):

Insert Link worked here, too.

One last thing, Mike. As said, "I'll assume FIO is a work in progress for now. Just get well and slow down Mike!"
We appreciate your work, and I'm sure you will get everything fixed, but perfectionism kills. Overwork will not help you, and we can stand a few bumps in the road during this huge transition, which has gone very well considering the magnitude of a total change to new servers, new hosting company and new server configuration.
Get well, stay well, and do what you can, but no more. It will all work out in the end.
I did all of the above and I still see the issue in Chrome. I thought it might be a weird caching issue too but incognito mode didn't solve it. I also tried Firefox and that browser works fine. This might just be a weird Chrome corner-case in my environment w/ vBulletin, if nobody else is experiencing it, don't sweat it on my behalf!
Hi , thank you for continuing to help me diagnose.
I still cannot reproduce the problem.
I am attaching a video showing the steps I took. I am using incognito mode to ensure no locally stored old versions of files are interfering with anything, everything is coming straight from server. Please excuse the type-o's and slow typing in the video, my primary laptop (MSI GS65) is in the shop for repairs, and I am using an old XPS 13 which is so much slower and combination of video recording + typing wasn't so smooth.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem using the editor to insert links or emails, as seen in my video? No one else other than has reported this issue so far, I'd like to hear from others please that it works or doesn't work so we can narrow it down.
I believe this specific issue has nothing to do with server migration, but me trying to eliminate the "non-javascript" variant of the site.
It's a GIF video and is large ~57MB so depending on your connection may be a bit slow to load.
Thank you for reporting. Let's take the two issues separately.
On the new posts search, it makes no sense it would return results from threads that you read two days ago that have not had new posts in them since that time, and still show them as new.
We did implement a SQL reverse proxy cache with the migration. But nothing would ever serve 2-day old queries/content in our config.
Are you able to reproduce this on-demand/at will? If yes, I'd like you to do a test for me:
1. Click New Posts from top.
2. Confirm problem exists, you are seeing threads you read already marked as "NEW", but that have not had new posts made within 1 day.
3. Important: Don't click on the thread. Do not open the thread.
I need you to send a screenshot of this, so I can see exact threads and then I will track down the thread ID and also look at your user ID and compare the activity to see what the two database tables are showing.
Please make sure you don't visit the thread in question that shows NEW, just use your best guess/memory to ensure that in fact you did read it already since the last post was made, and that the last post is >1 day ago.
OK, first if you still have the screenshot and cannot attach it, for the moment please use a third party service like imgur or gify to upload it, then link to it from here. This is for the 'new posts' problem.
Second, on to the image upload problem...
I tested things like uploads extensively before switching this to the production server, so it's important for me to figure out why you are having a different experience.
That said -- I was able to duplicate the problem, it must have been one of the last things I changed last night. Working on it now.
OK regarding the screenshots.... well, I was able to reproduce the issue at first but then when I looked for errors on the server, there were none. I restarted the PHP service just as a starting point, and then was no longer able to reproduce this problem.
Will keep a close eye on it. I've made several tests since then, all worked fine -- images, PDF's, archives....
Please test it guys and confirm its working again for you.
