There is very little info out there on Tape Reading. Most learn through observation and we all observe different things. I've certainly learnt some new stuff here.
I can't recall seeing a thread on Tape reading as informed as this one on any forum. Let's all keep it up.
thank you for your kind reply. The guy obviously asked what changed, (inspired by a question from a guy named like you...) but NOT if there are instruments that aren't affected yet.
I was thinking, if you wouldn't mind having another peer at my post. You'd notice that I included all Equity futures (as of my last information back in 2009), which obviate the NQ exhibit.
I just did a research to update myself and interestingly enough, I believe that I've found out that the CME group ist still implementing these changes over their product categories.
So maybe it isn't absolutely correct that these changes has been affected all instruments since their first release.
Of course I am open for any further clarification.
Yeah - it was me that asked the question as the 'bot' explanation didn't tie up with what I was seeing.
Right not I'm on NinjaTrader and I don't know how to do 'tick volume' charts as I did with Ninja.
If someone has TS, then can do 2 things:
1 - Daily chart going back to Early Oct 2009 with Tick Volume
2 - Daily chart going back to Early Oct 2009 with contract volume
If you look at the two - you'll see straight away where the tick volume increased and the contract volume didn't.
It's possible Multicharts has the ability too. Hell - Ninja may have it but I never did RTFM!
You can see there (all of the tapes) very large block at ask 1335.25-00 that shows you a big limit order seller on the ask. And so there is result
So this is was reversal print
You could of went LONG on the way up in addition to going SHORT at the swing high. I just marked some swing highs and lows from 4hr, 1hr and 15min time frames.
9:10:47- Big Prints BID(1.4450) (Stop levels-XX00, XX50)
Smooth Prints at ASK. Normal Liquidity.
9:12:03-Medium Orders at BID (1.4455). Level Holds. Now at 1.4450 you can see a Big Limit.
9:12:20-Another Big print at BID.(1.4456)
9:12:46 -Fast tape on ASK. Running threw prices on low Liquidity at ASK. 1.4455-Big BID LIMIT.
9:13:02-Big prints on BID. Then fast Tape.
9:13:40-Big Prints on ASK(1.4460)Tape Pops Up.
Go SHORT at 1.4461. SL-2 ticks. Easier said then done.
