I am new to day trading; I just started studying and sim trading the E-mini S&P in Jan 2011. I think forums are a great way to expand your knowledge, keep up with the times, and stay informed. I look forward to participating in discussions, and learning more about trading. Thank you Big Mike.
Hi Big Mike and all,
I started investing a few years before the tech stock crash in 2000. A few years back I decided to learn more about the markets and ended up studying forex. Looking forward to continuing the journey and learning as much as I can on this site
Cheers
I am a retired former mechanical engineer, married & 2 adult children in the Netherlands. I try to build some practice experience in Forex trading, have an account at IB Brokers and am very pleased with them. One can trade virtually any stock, commodity, forex pair, or whatever with them. Up to now I have no problems with them. Everything is working fine. The only problem is myself. I have a perfect timing for the wrong direction. Well let's keep it short now.
The reason for this forum is that I want to step aside from my trading in favor of one or more trading robots. This is the time to admit my inferiority in this peculiar financial specialization. We humans have ruined the world and computers are taking over.
At IB there is not much choice on EA's and I found Mt4 as my favorite stand alone browser, so connecting the two is my present goal but there are problems for which I will post a second thread.
thank you

A google search on a specific trading tool (Steidlmayer’s ‘volume strips’) led immediately to finding a post by Tigertrader on a Big Mike’s Forum which gave me exactly the information I had been seeking. The rest, they say, is history because that posting led me to look around the site and I liked what I saw: lots of recent activity, some great nuggets of interesting & timely information, and there appears to be a respectful & helpful tone to many of the conversations and in the leadership of ‘Big Mike’.
Of all of the forums I have visited, futures.io (formerly BMT)F had an immediate appeal and I will now call this home. As ‘Grapes” might say (if he were a trader): “way to go, big mike!” (grapes = don cherry = canadian thing).
For myself: a measure of visibility is essential to foster a greater sense of accountability; accountability is a big part of my “game plan”; I see being a participant here as helping in this regard. I’ll contribute what I can, which may that not much in the beginning and in the meantime learn from the rest of you.
Although, I have set up and funded my account, chosen my systems, developed my trading plan and am about to begin trading (again) next week, I will be sitting in on Big Mike’s webinar tomorrow … wouldn’t have been the first time I overlooked something.
You can find more about me on my updated profile, but in a nutshell: I want, one day, to make my “living” as an independent, self directed trader. Phase 1-b is the apprenticeship which starts now! (phase 1a was all of the research, planning, testing & admin-a-trivia that has gone into getting a funded futures account opened and a game plan set).
My best wishes for success to the rest of the futures.io (formerly BMT)F community.
Hi,
I was looking for some information on NinjaTrader and have always been "googled" to your Forum. I get some interesting hints and thoughts and joined.
I am trading now for more than 20 years - was able to buy my first car from my profits and was also "lucky" to get my first loan to cover my big losses on short options. In these days it was more than lottery than trading.
What was missing was a strict money management and a trading plan.
I am working on my trading plan now for more than 2 years and it improves. Money/Risk Management is still not as good as I want it to be. But also discipline is improving and I am trying to keep emotions aside and use technology to keep cool.
I like day trading the NQ and swing trading on strong earnings stocks.
I am looking forward to getting new and different views on the topic and also support on the programming side.
I'm a 45 year old that was fortunate to retire from my past career 5 years ago. I have been doing my best to learn about trading for these past five years and have learned just how much I really don't know.
I started dabbling with covered calls which led to spreads and then the market crash of '08 that wiped my trading account out along with much of my traditional investments. Post crash I dabbled in FX but didn't care for it. My current focus is the ES which landed me at Big Mike's. After checking it out the last few days I have discovered what appears to be a great forum with a wealth of information and an excellent community of traders of all levels that appear generally to be very supportive of one another.
Glad to be aboard and thanks to Big Mike for creating this forum!
