I'm new MW user and i couldn't find reporting. Does anyone know how to generate daily, weekly, custom range reports like, win rate, avg win-losing, min-max wins and etc.?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I'm having trouble even figuring out if you can filter your Trades from Live vs SIM haha. Really wish the community was a bit more active, fantastic platform
Sorry for the spam quoting everyone but figured was easier than trying to pm each one individually. Unfortunately looks like the MW community just isn't as active (judging by their community forum) and the fact there's not too many threads in here on this platform, so trying to dig up some old threads. I've spent days tweaking and configuring my MW platform but still have tons of questions.
You all seem to have tons of experience so was hoping you might be able to share any cool tips MW offers that isn't as obvious to the new comers? Love to see how you guys have set up the charts/platform as well just to see what else is capable with the platform.
My favorite trick right now has to be zooming the charts with the scroll wheel once you configure it to "Bar Width". It makes zooming such a breeze (best zoom in any platform I have ever used). I also love the "Autoscale" feature which allows me to quickly go between free dragging the chart to having it auto scale for me so I don't ever need to worry about adjusting the price axis.
I do have 2 simple questions if anyone could help with:
1. Is there a way show on the chart where my entry price is, WHILE the trade is still active? Kind of like how NT leaves a line on your entry price so you it's immediately obvious
2. On the Accounts tab, is there a way to filter accounts from SIM vs Live? It gets so confusing at times seeing which trades are which (also wish they showed MFE and MAE like Jigsaw does). If someone could share how they track their active orders on the Accounts tab, would be amazing. Thanks in advance
So the easiest way for #1 question is to use the default "Show Orders/Show Trades" buttons in the toolbar and toggle those on/off. You can also create keyboard shortcuts as well. I love how MW has the ability to create so many shortcuts .. it's awesome.
For #2 you can add Tabs for Positions, Active Orders, Filled Orders, Trades and a Journal that tracks every move you make. You can sort the account by clicking on the Column Header .. that might help you keep your accounts straight?
Appreciate the reply! Yup I'm familiar with what you mentioned, but definitely is a lot to be desired haha. One quick question - have you ever experienced a slow data feed in MW? And if so, any solution? I'm using CQG.
Hi ! I am new to MotiveWave, I am trying it out for charting as it offers very nice multiple chart layouts. But I have a question regarding futures charts. Whenever I open a daily chart for any contract the chart loads with the last closing price for the day and not the settlement price. So could anyone here, experienced MotiveWave user, please guide me on how can I view the daily chart with settlement price. (I even raised the same question on their official forum but haven't received any reply there yet)
Thank you for your reply ! I tried your suggestion and it solved my issue to some extent as it shows the settlement price for the last day only. But what I want is to be able to have a daily chart that shows candles with closing price as settlement price, as is the case if you open daily chart in Tradingview or Ninja Trader or R Trader Pro. Simply said - how can I make my daily timeframe futures chart in MotiveWave to look like that in any of these platforms.
I don't use MotiveWave, but why should a daily-chart plot the settlement-price as closing-price? There is O logic behind! The closing-price of a daily-chart is the last tick of the current trading-day (at 4pm CT), nothing else.
Not sure if MV has day-session charts or if you can set time-templates, if yes, set your chart from 8:30 am CT to 3 pm CT and you should get a closing-price very close to settlement-price, because the settlement-price for ES is calculated as some kind of VWAP from the 30 seconds trading from 2:59:30 pm CT to 3:00 pm CT
Yes I too agree that the the closing price for any timeframe should be the last tick price traded at the end of that timeframe. But in case of daily charts every other platform, atleast those that I have used, use the settlement as the closing price for the daily candle. So I've become used to seeing the chart in the same way. If you use one instead of the other ,sometimes as shown in the images in my previous post, the candle changes its look and the colour and that is important for me.
I really did not know that this is how settlement price for ES is calculated, so thank you for the information. I will try trick too to see whether this solves my problem or not.
