Here you go @Fat Tails.... I have no idea how to go about even starting to work these settings. Your HA indicator has a whole lot more options than others that I have tried.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
These are indicators that you can add to your chart. They are not options of an indicator.
When you install the HeikinAshi indicator, it also installs a few moving averages that can be selected for smoothing the Heikin Ashi candles.
However, you can also stick to standard Heikin Ashi candles and not use any additional smoothing for the candles.
In fact HeikinAshi candles do not show price action. You need to consider them as a sort of a moving average which is shown as candlesticks.
When you further smooth the candles, this is equivalent to double smoothing the price.
Double smoothing can be useful for filtering a trend.
The HeikinAshi indicator also comes with a paint bar indicator. The paintbar indicator does not distort the candles, but simply shows the HeikinAshi trend.
@Fat Tails. So where do you suggest I start? Should I apply all the options at once and then simply "take away" one at a time to see how that affects my chart?
Do you suggest any "starting options" that work for you? An example pic maybe?
Sorry for all the questions. Im pumped to get started.....
I went through all the settings, but still cant figure out how to make all the DOWN bars a SOLID color and all the UP bars HOLLOW color on the anaHeikenAshiPaintBars indicator.
You are correct, this is not possible with the current version.
The anaHeikinAshi indicator only requires two colors, one for uptrending and one for downtrending Heikin-Ashi bars.
The anaHeikinAshiPaintBars indicator requires four colors. It uses the two main colors for the trending bars (upclose & uptrend or downclose & downtrend) and has the intensity reduced for the countertrend bars.
I will create a NinjaTrader 8 version that allows for selecting four different colors.
First....Thanks for all the work you have done on our behalf! I have been using HA for many years and about November of last year I came across your smoothed version and have had success. I am trying to convert over to NT 8 and had hoped to find the same great indicator available there. Any idea on if/when you might do an NT 8 version? I often feel indebt to individuals such as yourself for all the work you do without just compensation. I'm always willing to contribute if needed.
Thanks again and I'll look forward to hearing back.
I will convert most of the NT7 indicators (ana-Series) to NT8 prior to the end of this year. I have already coded about 30, but not found the time to publish them here.
