@Bodhidragon: Welcome. As you may have discovered a good deal of seasoned and upcoming traders here on futures.io (formerly BMT). The 'emotive' element in trading tends to manage itself when one has committed him/herself to a system or trading technique with CONFIDENCE. Having faith in one's hard won system allows the trader to say, 'I may be wrong but I took the trade because I am committed to a technique that has demonstrated itself to be reliable. Committing oneself to a technique and learning it well rather than constantly changing charts and trading style with real money on the line, leads to blown accounts.
My name is Jay and I am completely 100% brand new to this forum, by way of a friend (Evanbro) from another forum. My trading experience is rather limited, but i've "dabbled" (if you would call it that) with Forex for a small number of years (never live trading though). Just recently got into PAT and was told that this was the place that I needed to be to be around like minded individuals, so i'm happy to be here!
I have been trading for the past 1.5 years in equities with an increasing success rate.
However, trading stocks doesnt give me a good enough "high", as trading futures.
I have the goal of eventually developing a career trading Stock futures, primarily focussing on the ES. ( I would be interested to know how many people actually make successful careers out of trading the ES )
I have never traded the ES before, but I am currently paper trading it until I have half a clue as to what I am doing.
In terms of system, I like Daytraderrockstar's way of technical analysis.....focussing on the Stochastics.
That being said, I have to emphasize that I am not interested in daytrading, since I will be starting a full-time job a month from now.
Which means I would like to position trade (yeah I know overnight margins) a contract for around 2 days, and aim for a larger range of points.
I am going to paper trade for at least 50-60 trades until I know I can make consistent gains.
Psychologically, I tend to be greedy, but nevertheless having a rather conservative nature, I believe I have a good-level of money management.
So yeah , I am the latest noob trying to get rich off the ES
Maybe I will make a decent income off the ES and able to leave my job (in the future) or maybe I will lose all my money and end up living out of a box int he back of some alley ........Who Knows........only time will tell.
Nice to meet you....please do not hesitate to give me advice (or opinions )
A fellow forum member introduced me recently to trading (h/t HarryPortter), got me setup to begin the step learning process of ES/TF daytrading, and point me out to futures.io (formerly BMT).
As of know using NinjaTrader with either Kinetic and ZenFire as data feeds, learning the basics and setting up a workstation, a few sim trades done.
My name is guillo. After 50 years of learning about trading while at the university I have decide to use part of time to update my knowledge about the stock market, trading and options
Hello all,
I'm so excited to be apart of this community. I am a new trader and looking to to gain more insight as well as contribute where I can. I have spent 15 years as a Network Architect and looking for a new and rewarding role as a professional trader. I look forward to taking this important step in my new career. Thanks for having me aboard here!
Thanks,
I've been interested in equities for quite a while (1~2 years) and have followed finance quite closely. I have recently picked up futures trading to moderate success on paper, and would like to translate to real money. I would also like to automate everything! Nice to be here!
