I've been trading now since the end of 2007, little did I know it was going to be one of the biggest downturns in history, but I survived (barely). I use Thinkorswim and trade mainly stocks and options.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Hello
Been here for around 2weeks. I am new to trading looking forward to learn from the vast amount of knowledge in this community. Very glad to be here.
I have been trading on & off for ten years now. Mostly stocks, options and ETFs with tradestation & cycles work with mixed results. Today, I decided to start over and move on to trade index futures on a intraday basis.
I am currently interested in switching to Ninja trader with Alpha wave traders trading course.
I also like market profile work from Pamela Ludwig. I Just wanted to get your honest input in either of these instruments, good and bad before I make a decision.
I started my trading journey a year back, i started with systems trading. I learned Multicharts and coded many many intraday systems albiet most of them didn't work. I didn't lose any money what i thought was edge was lost in slippage and commissions ( indian markets are illiquid).
I moved on to daily charts where my systems work well. I traded using them for some time but then I cam across Al brooks, I found Price action riveting and have been hooked onto that. Although i like to read charts but i am not comfortable scalping for small profit and taking number of trades each day, i now primarily use his principles to swing trade stocks based on 30 min charts. I've found David Weiss volume analysis a good supplement to just price and currently I use both of these.
I struggle with being disciplined which i am working hard at. I live in Delhi. ( Right now I am just a consistently break even trader). I would love to connect with all traders especially once who trade Indian markets.
I had been placing a few trades but got serious on stocks late 2012.
Kind of overwhelmed with this site. So much to access. Looking forward to reading of others experiences.
Hello everyone,
I have just joined and will give you a little background. I have been trading full time now for coming up to 3 years and am based in London, UK. I am still waiting for that "lightbulb" moment and am not yet consistently happy with my trading. While I haven't yet blown a big account I have certainly spent a huge amount of cash searching for the holy grail of systems and indicators.
The main vehicles I trade are the European and US indicies, FX and some stocks,
I guess I am caught in that trap of choosing to make a living out of trading and then allowing that pressure to get to me in the usual syndrome of letting losses run too long and taking profits too soon. Adding to losing positions etc. My wife has been patient but is becoming increasingly concerned and that is then adding to the pressure to succeed.
So, I am hoping that this forum and the success of the traders here will help me. If any of you have found the holy grail, I'd be very grateful if you would share it with me. Alternatively, I could just allow get on with the truth which is that success lies within.
Happy trading

I am Mac and am glad to be here.
I am passionate about equities and have been involved with the stock market on and off for sometime now mainly as an investor. I was an ok success while investing and decided to plunge into day trading. However this has been a nightmare as I had to admit I barely knew anything as it is a whole different ball game. I had no proper game plan - no money management or risk mangement!. Well after blowing up my account twice now have stepped out of the ring and unlearned whatever I think should have worked.
I am still quite excited about the transition and hope to benefit from this forum and its vast base of knowledgable and scuccessful traders and their experiences.
from the west coast of Fla (not the islands but not bad either) to all; common story here serious draw down of IRA account over about 2 year period; did have some good upswings but then broke most every rule on the way down until yes getting handle on money management and taking this seriously/not as a hobby. Swing trading mostly with the occasional daytrade. Recently began futures with the emini ES - amazingly with almost no training I am up about 7% for the month. Looking to futher my education in all aspects of trading including macro long term investing. Thank you!
