I really started trading in '09 and made some money but then recently lost 85% of it because of a decline in the stock and then a reverse split. Like other traders, I started with nothing and ended up with a little something and then lost it. I haven't regrouped yet. Still pissed.
I decided I wanted to join a forum to share my ideas as well as learn from others. This blog will hopefully introduce me to a lot of fellow traders, doing well.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Hello All,
Well would just like to start off with a big thanks to Mike for this amazing forum that you have developed, it has been a pivotal part of my learning over a long time. Yes it is now my time to contribute. For all of you knew to trading and looking for the holy grail, it time to stop looking as you have found it right here in this forum. If you have the right mindset and desire want to be a successful trader this is a great place to start. I can say this as it is what I did a long time ago.
I turned to emini’s after getting slaughtered trading stock options in 2007, I had one to many nights lying in bed (awake) wondering if I was going to get the dreaded margin call from the broker the next day. Sure enough it came, to the tune of 17K with one day to pay. Well this is not the nicest feeling in the world, so I knew it was time to do something different. Something that didn’t mean that I had money in the market overnight. So Emini’s appeared to be the next best thing, I could trade and know I have complete control over my results, to easy. Well how wrong I was. I started my learning with Traders International, as it was a place to start. I don’t trade with them anymore and I’m not here to credit or discredit them, they taught me the basic and I got my account and platform up and running, thankyou TI. I soon learnt if I was going to be successful I had to teach myself as much as I could about day trading Eminis. It was not until I broke away from TI that I really started to learn about my mental makeup what made me tick and what I need to do to be on the right side of the trade. I spent two nearly 3 years in sim before I went live only to go back to sim inside two month due to lack of discipline. Another six months of sim and the development of a whole new trading method I returned to the live market.
Well it has not been without its ups and downs but I’m still afloat in the live market. I haven t packed my job in yet but I can see the potential is there. I have a bigger picture to be in a position where I can be fully supported by my trading and travel around Australia in a motor Home, aiming for late next year as the kick off date. So hold me to account and I’ll see how I go on making my dream come true. Ill keep you posted as it all come to fruition.
My name is Rich and I trade futures and options my goal is to take control of my retirement account
and get better returns with less risk than I am getting from present broker.
Looking forward to learn and share with others. I trade nearly every day mostly simulated with futures
live trade with options. Really want to get profitable with the emini's .
Thanks Mike for creating the forum. I have never traded and never lost a time, never made one either... I am getting my feet wet with reading material and playing with NinjaTrader. I am excited to pick up what I can from everyone here.
In 1987 I opened a commodity trading account with $2500.00 and doubled it in less than a month. Since then I've accumulated enough capital losses to last me the rest of my life. I don't know exactly when or where I went wrong.
Greetings! Similar story to most: lost money and still in the red. Now learning advanced option strategies using the thinkorswim platform. I'm looking forward to learning and one day sharing (I hope) on this forum. Cheers All!
New to this forum - came looking for a specific indi (not found yet).
First learned to trade with a company that cost £21k - wouldnt say it was a complete waste as I met some good friends/fellow traders BUT coulkd have learned similar elsewhere for a lot less!!!
Am still wanting to automate my trading to remove emotion, but yet to find a good commercail EA to fit the bill, never mind several to diversify.
A trader friend suggested I join this forum. Glad to be here.
I am probably like many people here still studying, learning and practicing to become a more successful trader. I have to come to revelation that simple is better for the trading approach. But, not so simple that it is trivial.
