I like to think that here at futures.io (formerly BMT) we're smart enough to make up our own mind, individually.
Personally, I also find this thread somewhat ironic since we never had "EOL discussions" about NinjaTrader before they released NT 8 beta, which was a few years without significant updates. So why should we start to discuss MultiCharts "EOL" now, even after their CEO statement and despite their track record of frequent new releases?
I thought as traders we value behaviour (price action) over suggestions (ideas without a backtest).
Many russian traders was buy MC, for work with MOEX exchange and US,EU markets.
MC create datafeed with USB dongle, ONLY! for russian traders LOL , and people no can run this on VPS servers.
After MOEX change delivery time on stock, MC not fix their adapter now as 2 years, and ignore traders.
All not comfortable threads and post deleted on MC forum.
I now test MC 9.1b, she overload IB datafeed after download 2 ticker with 1 month intraday history, MC not have elementary history data downloader, if you have error in datafeed and database, they offer clear all base, or manual Crtl + R redownload hundreds tickers
Not compare NT7 without updates few year, and "new" release MC, MC lost money and time for traders.
No, this curve hands of programmers and not optimized data request. NT, AMI, SC correct download history, several days on per request. This situation and if download ticks from IQFeed, ESignal, Barcharts, not real for hundreds stock's.
MC platform lost serious traders, and develop WEB charts for lamers, at this stage, it gives them more money is not lost fashion on their charts.
So I'm not sure where you get your facts from, but all trading platforms have limitations in how much data they can download from IB. It's imply how IB's API works.
I have been working with MC over the past 3 months, on the 9.1 platform. I have been chatting regularly with Dennis & his support team too as I've been integrating to their platform.
I've also been chatting with Dan at Amp who, after Ninja went "full broker" - helped a number of IBs move to MultiCharts SE as a replacement to the previously open Ninja platform.
So MC are actively developing a new version. Not only 9.1 but I also know about a few changes going into 9.2.
AMP with MC are actively looking at the gap left by Ninja when they moved to a broker model.
So whilst anything is possible - this sure doesn't look like a company that is ramping down. The reverse in fact.
