I've been trading part time for a few years in different asset classes (e.g., etfs, options, futures) but started learning about system trading fairly recently. I've had the opportunity to learn how to develop strategies through the strategy factory workshop from (which I recommend to anyone).
I'm a bit overdue in the introduction as I keep getting reminders on futures.io (formerly BMT) saying I haven't posted anything yet. I am looking forward to collaborating with the very active community on the forum.
I'm obviously new to the site, funny enough it has been coming up in a few google searches considering how much info is shared on here its no wonder.
Myself i've been learning day trading for the past year. Originaly introduced to the idea through cameron fous's youtube channel and pretty much dug deeper finding every other PDT guru through there. Anyways a year later i have funded my account and joined the Investors Underground community, it was a fairly daunting step to take trading live and i found with a fairly small account under 2.5k that i get eaten by fees so only breaking even at best unless i use margin and risk blowing up my account. I'm still going to continue learning this method and trading stocks under $10/share for now. It's obvious that i need more capital to trade with or risk using some leverage. The subscription overheads hurt the bank a bit too i must admit.
More recently i have gone off on a tangent looking into futures trading on the e-mini. This looks like a totally different ball game.. sure enough the charts look the same but everything else is different. I dug into the daytradingacademy and while it looked good in a cheesy way i remain skepticle. I have read the forum thread on here about it which gave me a pretty good 'honest' insight. Instead i have been looking at PATs by mack, i am very green at the moment so some of the stuff isnt quite clicking yet. I haven't really found any hard evidence of people being succesful and making a decent living from this though other than hindsight. It's looking like people are struggling to make 1 or 2 points a day which is a bit off putting.
The reason i was looking at Futures is the flexibility/freedom it seems to have. Rather than being glued to multiple screens and doing pre market research and everything else that goes with penny stocks and pattern day trading on the nasdaq.. it seems impossible to just grab a laptop and go overseas for a few months while working.. If i ever got to the transition of leaving my job to do it full time of course.
So im looking at both of these for now, hopefuly wont blow up too many accounts and fall into the 90% margin
Trading is turning out to be a lot harder than i first anticipated. Plus there is so many different styles, types and classes etc its no wonder people spend years jumping from one method to another and spend upwards of 10k on subscriptions and learning material and never make it.
Already posted a msg as a Intro..Now the above members post replicate my thoughts to trade on Oil Market..May be Strategy 'll differ..it doesn't matter..Now i wanna clarify some doubts as a Non US Residents..
I wanna to become a Elite Member of futures.io (formerly BMT)..But how to choose the trading account from right broker with reasonable slippages?
As a Non US Resident (From India) Is any restrictions to trade on US Oil Symbol?
I m Learning the strategy of NT7 from demo version only...If i prefer Licensed NT7 Version can be use it for manual trading or it's suitable for Algo based Strategy?
Note : Dear Mike, don't aware this's the right thread to ask these..Q's..Pls guide the right title thread to ask this type of Queries..
Hello to all. I am new to this forum and looking forward to learning as much as possible before going live on my account. I used to trade binaries but blew my account and $5 big ones. I am now a lot more cautious. Good to see that I am not the only one that has lost money. Here's to a prosperous future.
I started trading about 9 months ago. I took a bootcamp Bulls on Wallstreet, and did their hedgefund program which I blew up the account. I started trading Forex then instead of daytrading and had seven or eight good days followed by a REALLY BAD day. Did that a few times, and have most recently been looking at treasuries and ES. I feel like I have taken some of the necessary lessons which don't sink in from a webinar or reading a blog but you have to experience. I'm on here to learn more about reading the order book, volume, and footprints. It seems as though the charts and indicators give a good indication of where the price has been it makes the most sense to me to look at the current values to see where the price is likely to go. There are several things I have looked at and they originated from this site so I joined. I hope I can be of help and thanks for making this available.
Thanks for the e-mail notification. I am just a bit concerned. It seems like most of the members trading are not trading forex currency pairs. As a very new member I have not had the opportunity of cruising through all the goodies on the forum so please forgive me if I am wrong. Can you direct me to the section where members trade Forex if possible? Many thanks for your patience with a new member.
Hi, joined because of this thread: (bigmiketrading)/brokers-data-feeds/35091-interactive-brokers-not-allowing-futures-trading-iras-6.html
I applied for a new IRA to trade futures earlier in the week and came upon this thread. I'm so irritated and would never have signed up for them had I learned about this beforehand. I'm probably just going to keep the account because I'm in a hurry to hedge interest rates.
