I have no stories of how i have grown throughout my experiences, because i have none thus far, lol. However, ive been studying, back-testing, implementing a trading plan, forward testing, and revising for quite some time now. I initially wanted to start in the futures market, but opted to go for the currency market instead. I'm a technical purist and have no concern with any fundamental insight except the dates of major new events, to stay clear and safe away on the sidelines, in regards to not blowing my account. I use ninjatrader as my platform and now its time for me to learn how to create or find indicators to help my studies widen. Im hoping that this community will help me fill whatever unseen voids i have through my learning curve by showing me the answers i may not even know i have a question to yet. I hope that anybody whose as passionate as me, and puts forth the hard work necessary in this industry, will find prosperity and success within their lives, for that is
what i hope to bring out for myself.
Cheers

My name is Ray, and I felt I better put in a welcome message before the forum scolds me about being here so long and not posting a message ;-)
I have been trading for over 30 years as well as being a programmer for over 30 years as well. So as far as trading and programs, I can pretty much say, "Been there, Done that". I am retired now and have a bit of time on my hands. I will shortly actually start to share some goodies that I have and perhaps some that I am currently working on. Darn, the forum doesn't have best indicator/whatever for 2015 or 2016... Oh well, I guess we will have to see
I'm an industrial engineer working in Spain, as many of you I have a decent job that I like and that is reasonably well paid BUT I have the feeling I'm not a free man, my main reason to be a trader is not trying to be rich, by a boat and this kind of things, my main reason is to try to be free, to work for my own, to manage my time, etc.
I have been trading some periods of time during the last 2 years, I haven't lost all the money in my trading account but I had the security that if I continued trading the same way I would lost all the money in the account, that's why since 6 months ago I started studying and trying to achieve a more "scientific" approach, I'm quite happy with my progress at the moment but I know I still have a long way to walk.
I'm willing to share knowledge and experience with you guys!
I am from France and have never traded before (almost never as my timid attemps to make money in the middle of 2008 swept away by the great sub-prime crisis)
For one year, I have been reading various books on finance, investements, tradings and differents quantitative and statistical methods.
Soon I will jump in trading full time with a small account to learn and will be participating to discussions in order to more motivated and involved.
Hi Everyone, I'm so glad to have found this site. I just joined elite and now I want to introduce myself. I was a former day trader in the time period 2000 to 2004 and blew out all my accounts. I've read that in a few threads so I'm glad I'm not the only one. In any case, I took a much needed hiatus to repair the family and get back on my feet. Now, I'm ready to get back into trading with a fresh new outlook and better attitude.
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading many of the journals. They give me hope that I can do this. I've read about many different strategies and I can see that many of them can work, but the strategy has to be paired with the personality.
So, I'm in the learning and research phase. I'm also at the stage of information overload (but in a good way) and now I'm trying to sort through how best to accomplish my goals. So, what are my goals? I want to get good enough through practice that I can enter the TopStep trader combine and eventually get funded. I want to get good enough so that I can afford to quit my regular job and devote full time to trading.
I look forward to reading more of the journals. Thanks for letting me be a member of this community.
Glad i found the forum, lots of good info just at the high level and i am sure tons more in thousands of threads..
new to forum, not quite new to trading but coming back after long break. need to put myself back in the driver seat what is not going to be easy after being burned once. hope for better this time, more mature, been studying for a while, . trading stocks only, though would like to understand how the options market works, if for nothing else it should help me understanding my own turf. hope to learn a lot from others here,.. -
most people have been burned again and again until getting to a better state... good luck.. read through some of the option selling threads.. especially with your TOS platform.. great way to practice and see if thats easier than trading stock
