Like most I am a forex curious trying to get my vesticles back into the arena after getting burned with some stocks.
It was just stupid(and I mean greedy stupid) bad leverage due to excitement positioning.
Since then I brainsturbate a lot coding indicators looking for that edge but not really taking the leap although my advices seem to help others(god only knows why).
My kinks now revolve around Supply/Demand, I do pay attention to volume and open order books of saxo and oanda.
I like divergence and have coded an indicator, have coded indicators to extrapolate the order levels of Oanda by reading the images as the saxo bank is easy, it is just a http request.
Also like range bars for the price domain, and japanese candlesticks for time domain
Coding some japanese candle bar pattern identifiers now and reviewing my divergence indicator on range bars, divergence is really good on range bars
Hello, i am new to this forum in hopes to become a day trader. Ever since i was younger i always wanted to day trade and most of my family have always pushed me to do so but i never got around to it. Never knew where to start, what the right path was, etc...I am here now. Ready. I hope that this forum provides me with enough knowledge to open my first account and start day trading. I know it is not easy at all and i takes time and patience. I can do it! We can do it!
Looks like a ton of amazing information here. I am in the information gathering phase and am looking for someone in Chicago who might want to meet up and trade together in a common location or co working space. I know I will work better by being in communication with someone else with a common goal. If you are in Chicago and see the benefit of possibly meeting up to trade in a group, let me know.
Hello,
Where to start? Well, I'm currently a high school sophomore trading a retirement account. Given that, and some of the more unfortunate regulations imposed upon IRA's, the account is likely to become a full fledged brokerage account. At the moment, IB is currently my top choice as far as brokers, although that comes from having just after having glanced at online reviews. The reason for the move is because, well, my father is a bit behind on his retirement to say the least and so I needed an instrument with inherent leverage. I would say I'm a fairly good stock picker; I made about 15k before investing in a volatility fund (UVXY) that has since halved the value of my account (lesson learned, although I still say it will make money in the long run and in a big way). I had traded this fund on an intraday basis but never actually gone long, unfortunately, events conspired against me and I found myself long this monster. I'm not out the trade yet because I still believe in my original thesis, but the moment I am, I enter to start trading futures, likely indexes futures. I would say that I have an above average understanding of the VIX, DOW, and the S&P, which I hope will carry over well, especially with the upcoming launch of weekly VIX futures.
Thanks,
Clashing
Hi, everybody. I'm new here, and so far, this is a great website. You have gone out of your way to make me feel very welcome, and I appreciate that. I also like the philosophy of the site as articulated by Big Mike. Very positive. It also appears that there is a great potential to learn, and that is the main reason I am here.
I have traded stocks and options for years, but never made a lot of money. Now I want to learn futures trading. The world of futures seems much cleaner and less complicated than stocks and options. Maybe I am being naive about that, but it is my initial impression. I am retired from the transportation industry so I have the time to focus and learn. I have opened a futures account, and have been paper trading every day.
I feel very fortunate to have discovered this website, and I look forward to participating. Thanks again.
