I haven't used kinetick...just compared side by side tradestation and infinity-transact and what I saw was infinities extremes was way less than tradestation extremes.....but similar analogicaly.
Each data provider can have different TICK numbers. I have used Tradestation for a decade and add Sierra Charts a few years ago for Volume Profile needs. There is a difference is TICK and ADD between the two platforms.
I used to follow the NYSE ticks - back about 10 years ago. I stopped following internals as I focused more on price alone for so many years that I forgot what NYSE ticks used to offer.
Just this year I wanted to revisit NYSE ticks and see if it can help me better identify trend day or range day by looking at how ticks act such as ticks pressing one side or another for trend direction. However, what I see now over the past few weeks ( 1/5/21 thru today) is that it is rare to see a NYSE tick > 800 or less than -800. I remember that used to happened many times a day. There seems like no activity at all - like it gets to 400 or 500 or -500 and thats basically it for a move -then hovers mostly 200 to -200 most of day.
Has something changed in the market structure over the past few years , for example , narrow stock concentration by large funds showing up with lack of NYSE ticks?
I mean, I can just adjust a NYSE extreme price to be anything over/under 600/-600, and I can see still see what side is getting pressed more. But I am curious to see what others think and how your are currently using NYSE ticks in your trading.
