I'm from SoCal like a few people around here. I do academic research in finance and I'm trading my personal portfolio of options and stocks. Want to go into futures as well. Interested in building a robust and efficienct system for trading that fits an active lifestyle. Would love to contribute what I can to this community.
I'm based in the UK, self-employed and work from home in my own business, which is my second career. I previously spent many years working in the equities markets (not as a trader), and I also day-traded stocks for six months or so a few years ago while in between jobs. I made some, lost some, and came out slightly ahead, but then got lured back to regular employment so had to quit the day trading for compliance reasons.
Nowadays I have a steady and quite decent income from my main job, so I don't plan on giving that up. I usually have a few hours free every day, and can organise my own time pretty much as I want, so I feel it's time to look at day trading again. (I don't want the stress of holding overnight.)
I am starting to look at futures, basically forex/indices, and plan to spend the next year watching price movements and getting a feel for the main instruments. In some ways it's very different to the stock markets, but risk is risk, and I'm not going to be swinging for the fences. If I can come up with some ideas, I'll sim them first, and if there's anything that looks good I'll start trading with a small account of $5k or $10k and very modest positions (E-minis or possibly even E-micros).
I have no illusions it will be easy, and I'm very aware of how much I don't know, but you got to start somewhere!
Welcome@drstein ! Consider algorithmic/automated trading if you like having an active lifestyle. There are a number of us here, so take a look around and get involved. I find you get out of FIO what you put into it.
I'm a 34 year old full time, exclusive /NQ trader (4yrs). I consider it a travesty not finding this place sooner. I'm enamored with the variety this community offers, and eager to having in depth discussions, learning from you all, and contributing however I can.
Thanks for having me. Best of luck, and good mental health to anyone reading.
Hi everyone, my name is Ryan, I tried to trade and lost my money without any prior training. I have a background in engineering and project management; i came back to trading with a view to learning all i can and put into practice what i learn and continue to learn, because without the learning and the practice processes, it amounts to nothing. I love trading and all of its excitement, but also mindful not to blow my account again. I would love to contribute in whatever way i can to this forum and also to learn from you all; i like this forum, and i think is amazing; thanks for having me here.
I have a small back ground as a pit trader in the Toronto Futures/Options Trade Exchange back in middle of 1990's. I did not have a full training before jumped in the pit as a Local trader. I am so glad to have a full of professional traders and friends with Futures.io.
Now, I am almost retired from the insurance, real estate and mortgage industry, and surely enjoying the financial market movements daily.
Hi everyone! I used to trade emini es and nq at Kingstree in Chicago. It was a great experience and taught me a lot. Now I'm getting back into trading and following the markets daily.
I have a few threads on Optimus Futures and use Optimus Flow for my trading platform.
I'm looking to gain knowledge and experience here and connect with other traders.
