Sierra chart was once good but not anymore. They increased their price by a whopping 200% . Plus their customer service is some what born out of the world. They are very rude and very arrogant. They will infact delete your question in their support portal if you point any mistakes of them.
Looks like all their customer service are unprofessional and not fit for doing this job.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
As pitiful as their customer service is, they still have the best product on the market! I don't have much experience with any other software customer service so I can't really comment but the software is top notch! Better than anything else out there! Yes, they are somewhat arrogant/obnoxious, but their software is miles above any other.
IDK about the price increase but they are still as cheap or cheaper than anyone else!
If they increased their price 500%- what they offer would still be under priced. They also have multiple price tiers and products- may I add.
I think you simply do not understand the power available to a serious trader with Sierra Chart. I have driven a bunch of other platforms, professionally- not Mickey Mousing with them. There are other good platforms as well, some better suited out of the box for various trading methods- but IMO they all fall short of what Sierra is capable of at the end of the day.
Personally, and within the industry, Sierra is very highly regarded as one of the most capable, fast (C++ through and through, no room for interpretation here- this is Wall Street quality and efficient code), reliable, feature rich, and extensible platforms out there.
Their customer support is FANTASTIC for real issues. I’ve had multiple things addressed within under an hour, sometimes within minutes- and always within the same business day. Once or twice I discovered issues that they patched up when pushing the next update within 24-48hrs. Often people will misjudged what is really a problem and what is not. They will always deal with an actual problem- and they are good at identifying what is and what is not. For issues where it is the user that is misguided or does not understand- they will most often point you in the right direction in their extensive and elaborate documentation. Most other issues are addressed in their forums.
They do not take feature requests, as they already have a very extensive road-map for what is already as near to completion as any offering out there.
As traders- we all have our own quirks and features and functionality we would like to see- but it is so personal and there could be an infinite amount of possibilities. Thus the power of ACSIL and the ease of integrating and customizing yourself with C++.
Can they be a bit more ‘polite’ or have ‘bedside manners’ regarding support…. Sure…..
But I’ll take their fantastic software and amazing support engineers over the other competitors any day, every time given the choice. The alternatives, I assure you, will be nicer to you, and give you an inferior product. But at least they’ll be polite about it.
Not everyone needs the functionality (and added complexity) that Sierra offers. There are many other adequate quality alternatives, updated much less frequently- that will satisfy most retail needs.
NT8, Multicharts etc. Check them out. They are also very good.
Nope. I use package 5, and it is the same $36 it has been for quite some time. Don't post inaccurate things like this if you can't back it up with numbers.
Nope. you are wrong completely. since when you started their subscription ?
Just a year back, On Advanced package Denali data feed for ES, it used to be close to 300 bucks with 1 year subscription (30% discount, which they removed off late). Now the same service costs 450 bucks (6 months for 220$ offering 20% discount only)
I am clear and I can share my billing history.
Before you make any statement, please ensure you are correct and turn back on you for any accuracy.
In terms of the usability and service, I peg to differ from others who commented here. With such a long learning curve, no mobile app, ludicrous customer service and with recent increase in cost, I believe the value add of using sierra chart is way below than what it was a while ago.....
I am already using Trading view (288 for 13 months for premium) and NT8. TV has crystal clear candle stick charts, alert mechanisms and their mobile app are much satisfactory...
Reason for me to still use sierra chart is their TPO's which their competitors are yet to match. Again bottom line, your trading decision is not based on any platform. It is based on multiple factors. I believe we both will be in-sync on this...
I am just seeing the value addition of using sierra chart when compared to their competitors. Opinion differs and I am sharing my vent on the recent increase in cost when the features and everything is same!
I have used package 3 for years and years, always the monthly billing, and I have been paying $26 per month all this time. I am going to go up to package 5 this month, and it will be $36. I think either price is below dirt cheap, and I always have.
As to customer service, well, everyone with any history with them knows that it can be amazing in its curtness and positive rudeness. But like @DanDaMan, I have had very quick and extremely competent help in the few times that I have reported an issue, with a new, fixed version being turned around in a day or two. They are not very patient with anyone who they decide should not be taken seriously, which is a true failing when you are selling a product. But they do it anyway. I can live with that.
The platform itself is better than any other I have seen, and I have seen a fairly large number by now.
Being ticked off with their customer service (to say nothing of their opaque documentation) is completely understandable. But I live with it easily. It is that good.

Eleven years ago. To be fair, for about 3 years in that period, I didn't trade, so, 8 years total, starting 11 years ago:
I can see that back in 2015 I purchased a 1-year subscription at a discount and the adjusted monthly total came out to almost exactly $36. Which is what I pay now, per month.
I have paid $36 per month for package 5 for a VERY long time.
What you're saying is that the subscription, bundled with data, discounted varying amounts due to varying subscription periods (duh), is "up by a whopping 200%." Compare apples with apples.
The base software, package 5, has not changed prices in YEARS. When you add data, you are talking about something very different. And obviously, when you prepay for 6 months compared to 12, you will get a different discount percentage.
What exactly is your goal here? I recently created a thread talking about how awful IBKR was. My purpose was to warn people who have a particular style of trading that it may not be well suited for them. I stated that goal. Here, I'm not sure what your goal is. Is it to warn others, to get sympathy, or something else? Ok, you hate sierra chart. Now what?
To be blunt, Sierra does what they want, they way they do it, because it works for them. The code is stable, fast, and they have a frequent release cycle. If they want to be blunt to customers, they will do it, because they don't need you. I pay $36 per month for a fantastic piece of software. It is leagues ahead of anything else in the mainstream retail trading world. If you trade options, it's not for you. If you're a spreader, it's not for you. But if you need what it has, it can't be beat, IMHO, as an 11 year customer. It's not perfect and no one has ever claimed that it is.
I'm no shill for Sierra. They've told me "no" on feature requests, I've complained to them, and do not always like their approach. But I believe in supporting what works well, so I support them, because it's the best, for me.
