Hi Everyone!

I've been learning trading for about 4 years now, and I'm still breakeven in the long run. For most of my journey, I relied only on structure, volatility, and price action. But in the past few months, I discovered TPO and order flow tools, and I've been deep into learning and testing them ever since.

I joined the community to get advice on some questions I've been struggling with and to find helpful learning resources.

I jumped into crypto for about 2 years now, but still lost in this ocean and havent make money unless $2-5 here and there, i have main job of course but its far from enough to fulfill the needs in daily, well i did make some money through airdrop but lately iam more into trading futures, im thinking if i can learn this consistently i ahh who knows if i can get better life for me and family, without any degree in education is that possible?

@AminMstlih,

Your journey from crypto to futures resonates with many traders here. A formal degree isn't required - markets are the ultimate meritocracy where results matter more than credentials. Many successful traders started exactly where you are.

Consider futures education as building three pillars: risk management (position sizing, stop losses), market mechanics (order types, margin requirements), and strategy development (entry/exit rules, backtesting). Start with micro contracts (MES, MNQ) which require less capital while you learn.

Your crypto experience gives you advantages - you understand volatility, technical analysis basics, and 24-hour markets. Focus on journaling every trade, identifying patterns in your wins and losses. Consistency comes from systematic approaches, not intuition.

What specific aspect of futures trading interests you most - day trading, swing trading, or longer-term positions? Understanding your goals helps shape your learning path.

I began trading options in November 2023 with an online group, but quickly realized I was in over my head—especially when it came to understanding the charts. It felt a bit like trying to navigate with a map written in a language I didn't speak.

@bcsverige,

Welcome! Your "map in foreign language" analogy perfectly captures how options complexity can overwhelm. Smart move transitioning to MES/MNQ - futures offer cleaner price discovery without options Greeks clouding the picture.

Your options background actually provides advantages: you understand time decay (though futures handle it differently via roll costs), volatility concepts translate directly, and risk awareness from options' leverage applies perfectly to futures margin.

For chart clarity, focus initially on three elements: support/resistance levels, volume patterns, and trend structure. MES/MNQ move similarly to their full-size counterparts but with lower capital requirements - ideal for building confidence while you develop your futures-specific skills.

Since you're enjoying the learning curve now, what made the difference? Was it the simpler instrument structure, better educational resources, or something else that clicked?

The community here excels at practical futures knowledge. You'll find the language becomes fluent faster than you expect.
