Hey guys,
im interested in learning more about statistical analysis based on price and volume. I really like the work of @metricsmaestro on his blog and futurestrader71. Can someone recommend me some resources (books, blogs or forums) where that kind of analysis can be learnt. I have intermediate knowledge of Excel and i make basic analytics myself but would like to go more in depth and learn some ideas that i might not think of. All my attempts to find some book or website about that kind of metrics ended in dead end.

Thank you

Hi and welcome Arthur,

Please can you post one or two examples of the statistical analysis you are referring to?

Chances are this will increase the likelihood of people being able to point you in the right direction.

Of course, sorry for not doing that in my original post.
Most of the examples im interested in can be found on metricsmaestro blog: metricsmaestro.wordpress.com
I could go and figure every formula by myself but i would also like some explanations.
If you dont want to click on the blog, some of the simple metrics from the top of my head are:
*Number of Days with a Change of 1% or More by Month and Year
*How often if double top/triple/quadruple top/bottom broken
*How often previous day low/high is broken on the next day
*Where does NQ typically close relative to its daily trading range Range?

Thanks Arthur,

I've checked that blog and also the link that @trendisyourfriend provided.

To me this stuff falls under quantitative analysis (I'm sure others can share their view). Have you tried a Google search such as "quantitative analysis finance books"?

Bear in mind that Quantitative Analysis can be a broad subject that includes AI fields such as neural networks and genetic algos

Start with counting. Rob Hanna shares basic price and volume analysis at his quantifiableedges.com website and blog.

I would recommend also studying and reviewing descriptive statistics vs predictive modelling. I'd advise to find a trading package that allows you to build these studies such as Tradestation or NinjaTrader. You can also research systematic trading.
