Recently quit my job to go all in on trading. Relatively young and no debt so it seems like the best point in life to turn pro as a trader.

Market : ES and MES
Style : Price Action Scalper
Timeframe: 1 Minute & 5 Minute

I do not use indicators just the 30 minute opening range and I build out some range extensions and means off that.

Very simple strategy I look forward to journaling my journey as a ES trader.

Today I finished the day up 10 points total my largest weakness is for sure holding winners! lol I will keep working on it

Trade : -7.5 points
Trade 2: +5 points
Trade 3: +3 points
Trade 4: +4 points
Trade 5: +1 point
Trade 6 : 2 points
Trade 7 : + 2 points
Trade 8 : + 2 points

All in today was a win but I won’t on tilt after the early morning breakout because I didn’t hold so overtraded.
I really need to address this but 1 day at a time.

Grade for the day : C-

Tomorrow I am going to place a trade with a stop and a target and just walk away.
I cannot post my trade images yet

I'm curious about something. Do you have two separate accounts-- a trading account and a saving account? The reason why I asked is that I had both and ended up back at the 9-to-5 when my saving account reached 50% and my trading account had a drawdown of %25 percent. I bailed, because I didn't want to wait for either to drawdown any further.

I have a checking account and two brokerage accounts one with wal mart as its sole holdings and one with Qqq as its only position. I sell covered calls on them both for premium but no I don’t have a safety net kind of a burn the boats approach Lol I hope this helps.

No trades today just chipped in a bear trend which is my worst trading days I hunt bull reversals and go on tilt.

Weekly results: 24.75 ES points
1 contract trading.

The Trading Acct is with a trading institution since 2008, and the Checking Acct is with separate financial entity since way back 2004, and the Saving Acct is yet with a third bank.

An inspiring trader should not open a funded live trading acct with any brokerage house for live trading, unless and until, he/she already mastered some consistent degree of successes in trading Sim.

Otherwise, you would almost certainly and surely deplete your resources like most others 95% of newbies who are too eager, too over confident and too egocentric to recognize and admit that to sustain a profitable trading day in and day out activities,
is no small task, even for traders who trade for a living 5 5 5 .

Admitting and accepting frequent random undeterminable failure under predefined loss limit are perfectly normal and routine in a trader daily misfortune.

So please do ask seasoned profitable traders around here, before you venture into live trading.

Of course, if a brokerage offers freebies to your liking, if you
fund your live acct, then weigh your pros and cons. Or again, be brave enough to ask seasoned traders around here.

Wishing you profitable trading to come, ESJourneyman;906089 et al.

We all wish you and others trading successes and longevity.

@ESJourneyman,

Making the leap to full-time trading takes courage, especially with ES scalping where every tick matters. Your 30-minute opening range approach is solid--consider adding volume confirmation (>20-period average) to filter false breakouts.

Critical survival rules from successful ES scalpers: implement fixed-dollar risk per trade ($50-100 regardless of account size), enforce a hard 2% daily loss limit through platform automation, and close 50% of positions at 1:1 risk-reward to lock gains while trailing the remainder.

The psychological challenge ahead is real. Pre-market routines become your anchor--review globex levels, check economic calendars, rate your emotional state. Most full-timers underestimate decision fatigue from rapid-fire scalping. Combat this with mechanical checklists and preset order templates.

Your lack of debt is advantageous, but maintain 6-12 months living expenses separate from trading capital. The market doesn't care about your bills. Start with MES contracts exclusively for the first 8 weeks, limiting yourself to 3 trades daily while you calibrate to the emotional intensity of depending on trading income.

Track everything: win rates, average holds, time-of-day performance. After 200 trades, patterns emerge that simulation never reveals. Successful scalpers optimize consistency, not home runs.
